For End Masters 2024 Prompt Contest.

A mercenary war lord surrounded by enemies. Make your final stand.

The land of Orcin, a place where all are free to live as they wish as long as they follow the laws of the council.  Years of relative peace had ensued, making sure the orcs would live as strong and as free as they had always been.

The Mannate Empire, destined to consume everything on the horizon, sets its sights on the homeland of the orcs.  Annexing one kingdom, one empire after the next, finally looks to orcin for resources, troops, and land to settle, as they prepare their dreaded march.

Nolazir, a simple orc, who lives off the land as he works his farm, unknowingly would be drawn into events to come.  He would come to shape the world around him, and the future of Orcin.  

Fight for honor, love, peace, and prosperity.  Lead with a cruel fist, or a warm heart.  Challenges and tribulations lay ahead for all. 

Will you save your homeland and return it from the brink?  Will you let the darkness within and without consume you?  What becomes of you and the world, is up to you.

The next edition will come out in a few months, filled with more varied events between time jumps including, politics, monsters, and more!  Also will be adding the rest of the real story and the side branches in as well.

You are happy.

Your life is nice and cozy, it's a dream come true!

One day, you meet your own doppleganger.

What you do from here is up to you.

In the wild, beastly lands of Velis Brum, many are prey to the whims and cruelty of men and monster alike.

A small village resides in the caves Manchor Vanit, it is here you have been born. Taught to remain close to the caves all of your life, you never caught a glimpse of what was beyond the mountains, and when you did it was often cruel and unsettling.

Your mostly quiet existence would end when Baglich would come to take your homeland, with their scum and barbarian fiends.

Gather family, allies, old foes, and create an empire suitable to standing up to this terror of the land.

A dispute, a broken promise.  The envy of one will break a kingdom.  

The half man, half dragon sorcerer Tarragon threatens your king, your home, your very way of life.  

How far will you go to make sure justice is brought to this foul madman?

Evil Grannies Galore!

Come, rest your weary feet. 
Sit by the campfire, warm those hands.  You must be tired.  
Oh, you like stories do you?
Hmm, here's a story for you.  One that goes way back, to a time when the night ruled, and the howling of beasts would make any man tremble.  Relax, it's going to be a long one.

An orc named Tumble, young, wild, and free.  

Life is great in a village nestled in between the mountains, the birth place of the great Orc race.  But for the past century a series of brutal crusades have left them divided and broken.

The Mannate Empire threatens to swallow them whole, just as it has done with everyone else in its path.  But then one day an even bigger threat to the land rises out of the fires of fate, undeterred by the ravages of time. 

They call him Scourge.  His forces threaten the very land, and all of life as it stands now.  

Will Tumble play the role fate has dealt him and stop the evil Scourge?

Or will he abandon the world before him and find his own way?

For End Masters Dark Fantasy Contest.

In the land of Arren Gul, a Spire sits, its true nature hidden from those who would draw its power.

A man in the guise of a restless spirit ventures toward it to bring his enemies to justice.

An exercise in seeing how fast I can crank one of these out.

Book One has been an interesting read. The hinge point so far seems to be based off something I once read about thr Greek culture at the time, which was that the proper response to insilts to one's honor was to satisfy it verbally or one way or another. Which in itself isn't anything really new but seems like an easy thing to lose when looking into the time when there's so many things that stand out. 

But it's kind of funny that it all seems to have started over arguing over a concubine as far as I can tell. Agamemnon seems pretty greedy. Not lacking for wealth or concubines, but Achilles said that Agamemnon often took from the other pals of his anytime something didn't go his way. So he seems to like throwing his weight around. 

I can honestly say I struggled through much of that portion, but once it got to the gods at Olympus and some of the arguing between them I started getting into it more. I like the setup of that and that Jove tries to do things privately and in his own way. And his wife and the other gods are spying on him and cricizing him. 

I thought it was cool how Homer showed us first, the tyrant Agamemnon who routinely mistreat his companions and subordinates but is given the utmost respect by them and they mostly like to try not to pass him off. 

On the flip side, Jove is mostly just except for beating the shit out of his family, or at least seems to be reasonable in how he handles out things. But despite him trying to be reasonable, the other gods sort of hackle him. 

Just thought it was an interesting observation. 

The image of Jove flying off the hook and suplexing people is a funny image. 

Glad that worked out for you lol. All in all this was a very good contest

Contest Results:

Alright, I could not make an announcement thread so just doing it in here. The turn out of this contest was better than expected and had more people finishing than I had hoped for. Very good job to those of you who finished. This contest was a rollercoaster of typing, peeing on the floor, contestants entering and exiting. Only a few survived and persevered, and some are covered in the juices of gay men.

The contest quickly went awry when the gay rebellion sprang up. The entries of which still make my skin crawl but were at least pretty funny and entertaining. Stalling is for fags so without further ado:

Well, MHD wins the contest. I am happy to announce, despite her swatting me with newspaper and me nipping her ankle. Her story was not as long as I had thought, but though it was on the shorter side it had a lot of fun choices. Of course, the writing was very decent and I didnt see any jarring mistakes. It also had the distinction among a pile of degenerate stories of NOT shoving homosexuality in my face. The overall story was not distracted from by the tones of the uhh, themes. It also had really cool cover art. Like most of the entries I would not mind if this one had a second edition where branches and such were...ahem, extended.

Second Place:

Fluxion really surprised me. I thought for some reason his was gonna be one of the most obscenely grotesque stories. It probably had the most wholesome bits in some paths which was a nice change of pace. The story also seemed to focus more on the plot and narrative stuff so it got big points there. It definitely seems like this one would have a lot of room to grow into a sprawling story if you wanted to continue it or even rework it into something bigger in the future. But as is I really like it. Yours was also the most muted in terms of the gay stuff out of the stories that contained it. This story flowed really well and did a really good job of flowing me through the story.

Third Place:

The latest installment of the Gay and Depressed series was hilarious. The internal narrative of a man who was a gay hating radical turned aggressively gay homosexual butt rapist had me dying. There were a decent amoutn of choices, and definitely seemed like the most complete story at least of the ones on the shorter end, maybe other than Flux's. Though Cats had the same vibes it was a longer story. You really did a lot with a little bit. The sheer humor of it carrried this entry quite far.

Darius, your story was very well written and I really liked the setup. Starting with a letter being written by a dying fellow was very unique, and I was wondering what his childhood had to do with it but I know European writers always have to include that stuff as per contractual obligation. But also I like how it tied to the recipient of the letter. I wish there was more about the rebellion stuff since that was interesting, and Id definitely read an expanded version of this story too. It was very well written and took its time establishing details and characterization in a way that felt concise and not meandering at all. Its a hard vibe to pull off. 

I dont remember too much gay shit but you're Darius so I know that just makes the story gay. I would have loved to place yours higher, and in fact intended too but there was just too much that was too good about the others ones.

Your story places in last, but does not place last place in our minds. Well, of the finished entries. You still beat the shame pit. I appreciated the effort you seemed to put into your story. At nearly 50k words the story was impressive for such a short length. Alas, it was the most obsecnely and uncomfortably gay story. Which marred my understanding of it a little. Still, it was written decently and I liked the plot, it was interested and seemed like a very fun story. Though you have placed last you have still placed which is a testament to the effort you have put in. I also think this story is the sequal to another if I recall correctly so that is cool too.
