Alright it’s that time again for all of you faggots to pick a prompt and then fuck off for several months until close to the deadline where upon half of you will flake out completely and get thrown in the SHAME pit. Of those remaining half, most of them will turn in unfinished shit because guess what? They fucked off for several months instead of actually focusing!

And MAYBE among the rest who miraculously manage to completely follow through with their ideas we’ll get some good stuff. Well that’s the hope anyway since I have to read all this shit. 

Still, I would like to see you slothful fucktards at least put in more fucking effort in turning in something this year. Yeah we got some of the best story submissions last contest, but let’s try for quantity as well as quality too. 

After all, this is the grand CYStian community tradition and we don’t want these contests to end up deader than a CoGite’s dick in a room full of biological women.

Speaking of which, for fuck’s sake try to avoid writing gay porn this year. Seriously we’ve had enough of that for awhile now, this isn’t the IFag’s SpringThing where you need to cross your t-girls and dot your intersexed for alphabet soup points.

Note: I didn’t say you can’t write gay protagonists if you really feel the need to represent yourself, I just said don’t write fucking gay PORN or you’re getting cast down to the bottom level of the SHAME pit automatically.

So if you pick say the prompt about joining a new cult don’t make it about a bunch of cross dressing degenerates sucking a giant disembodied cock that baptizes them its “divine” juice or some shit. Do something wholesome like a bunch of freaks dressing in the skins of their victims and carving their eyes out so they can "see" their true god Fluffy the Unnamable or some shit.

I do however think my storygame will be better than anything produced by Chris113022, MiltonManThing, stories_unwritten, and Clayfinger, and would bet 25 points against each of them unless they're too cowardly to take me up on that. (Or unless they're too cowardly to enter the contest at all.)

I couldn't find a prompt I'm in love with this time, but I'm at least a little interested in 43. So I'll take that before there's nothing left at all that I might want to do. "A story where an archaeologist makes an incredible discovery."

I only have a vague idea about what I might do here, but the truth is, SHAME is worse than getting a full idea only to find the one prompt that will work with it is gone.

I get into a certain headspace where I have two or three ideas, and if nothing matches, I have nothing. This is the only one that matched, but it matched to the vaguest idea I had. \_(-_-)_/

EDIT: the siege one would work, but Fabrikant will bring us something awesome with it instead.

Oh. I can come uo with ideas on the whim, and usually they start to develop pretty fast.

Not so much a creativity issue as it is a passion issue. If I don't love it, I get bored way too easily.

Funny enough I usually do the opposite where I go through all the prompts and think of a quick and vague outline to a story for each of them and then pick whichever I like best, but this time I took your approach since I had a few game ideas that would otherwise sit on shelf forever. We'll see how it works for me.

Also it's not like you didn't stretch the prompt to its limits last year and still ended up with a winner.

LOL true. The way I plan this year will be more true to the prompt. But I got to say, I'm impressed you could come up with ideas for each one.

You guys are way overthinking this, I picked mine because I wanted to make a joke about Ben being a degenerate.

If a prompt allows for fantasy it's always possible to bullshit something out.

Those kind of stories are great for a cleanse after reading the inevitable cringe these major contests produce.

Most of those were either extremely vague, generic or derivative. Like if I were to pick prompt 1 I'd just do a Running Man game but more in the spirit of the old movie or using 14 as a base I'd make a story with a protagonist who was the last one in a battle for godhood and now has to put the world together after bringing it to ruin. And those are just 2 I didn't feel like doing.

I find ideas to be a dime a dozen and it's all about where you take whichever one you chose to go with in that moment.

Oops sorry. I will do my best to try to live up to that.

Have you heard of "Dimension 20: Cloudward Ho!"? I was very tempted to take this one and do a fan fiction of that actual play series.

I haven't but I'll look it up. My world is sort of inspired by some of the old Final Fantasy games, I'd probably make it a real RPG if I knew how to code. There's going to be a big map and you'll hear of missions in certain locations, but it's always going to be a choice since you can't be in two places at once and there will be consequences to not doing certain things in time.

Funny you say that. I was thinking about the airship one to do a Final Fantasy fanfic. I'll shelve that one for a later date though.

Mystic did that last year so yeah you can though you usually have issues even completing one story for a contest, let alone two.

On second thought you're probably right lol, I should try to focus. My main story has just been a little slow going though and I suddenly had an idea for a fun retelling of Noah's Ark. I'll just save that for another contest though.

I should have more time to write this month though, I was getting extra hours from a seasonal position that's done with now.

If you wanted to take one prompt and work ideas from another into the story you could also do that. Just because your story has to be about prompt 1, it doesn't mean it could be a type or story that also fits prompt 35 as well. If you mean two separate stories... good luck! I'm really hoping I can finish one...

That's what I tried to do last year, but it added to an already bad scope creep in my concept. It can be a fun challenge to work in additional prompts, but make sure you finish the main prompt you select.

Also did this with three prompts last time (Naval Warfare + Underwater Adventure + Pacifist Protagonist). Worked out well for me.

Maybe just work on finishing one real story this time.

And I just want to mention for everyone while I'm here that there should not be any half assed meme fics or lolrandom shit this time. It's End's contest and maybe inflated irony ratings on dumb garbage will save you from SHAME, but I will personally carry out vengeance against anyone who wastes reviewer's time this way.

The most likely explanation, given the April Fools joining date, and the fact that the user never logged in after the 19th of April, was that it was an alt of someone playing up this overly enthusiastic caricature who made a complete fool out of themselves for the LOLs.

Usually that kind of guy has severe self-esteem issues. To take seven at once requires more than mere physical flexibility and endurance, but also a deep shamelessness.

We were the true winners at the end of it all for getting to experience that whole episode.

I completely understand the hesitation, thank you anyways for the consideration, i have done nothing on this website so far except entering those contests only to give up for various reasons. Perhaps that was needed as from the point where i'm at one can only go up, i've started writing some short stories which i plan on sharing on this website soon and i will try to publish a story with this prompt anyways, even outside the contest.

Is it really rape if the victims make no effort to resist or escape whatsoever? I feel like the scorpions are getting a bad rep for no reason.

I think it counts if it's against their will, which then it doesn't count because I'm pretty sure most people down there don't have a will.

I mean unless I remember the definition wrong awareness isn't required to consititude rape since it's about the general lack of consent. So deserved or not it is still technically rape.

Yeah it seemed unique so I wanted to give it a spin. Although writing the whole cancer thing isn't the challenge for me, it's the genre of story I'm shooting for (superheroes).

A superhero with cancer! I was originally going to go with just Some Guy but I played around with some other ideas and that stuck.

I played a game of Marvel Superheroes where my character was a super-healer. The game never really took off, but my plan was to have him fight people by inducing super-fast growing tumors, kind of like an Akira growth.

Can they be locked if they didn't pick a prompt? I know the tradition is to lock anyone that posts on the thread if they haven't already picked, but does End assign one if they don't pick?

In the past I believe they have been encouraged to pick a prompt. Not picking a prompt has the same effect of picking one and not finishing it, so most eventually do pick one.

From what I recall, if you post on the thread for a prompt contest saying anything, you're liable to be locked. And then you either have to choose a prompt, or one gets chosen for you by End, with hilarious results.

So Manu, if you're reading this, it might be best to scroll through the list while you still have time and see which prompt you have the most affinity with.

I have been SHAMED from this once. It was... shameful.

I think this is how I wrote my first story. Mizal locked me into a western contest, so I stopped my other project to write a quick game as my first release. It was awful, but I avoided falling into the Pit until much later…

He's talking Time Cave, Loop and Grow, Branch-and-Bottleneck, State Tracking, or Confirmation-Required choice as general approaches.

Basically, they are asking how you are handling branching in your story to prevent it from either growing exponentially or not having enough choices/variety.

So FernGully basically? (Without Tim Curry that movie was probably forgettable. Okay maybe Robin Williams could have carried it.) Will you have the Dances With Smurfs Outsider/White Savior cliche? I'm not saying these things are inherently bad, BTW. Critics hated The Last Samurai, but audiences loved it.

You don't necessarily have to change the plot, just be ready for that comparison in reviews if your plot has too many connections to Ferngully.

Fun fact: there is a real Quidditch game. People made up rules for how to play a sport based on the books. In my experience, it's wild. I had some friends in college who asked me to play on a team. It devolved into a bunch of Harry Potter fans in a field, breaking metal broomsticks and trying to cut each other with them.

However, it's basically team handball combined with dodgeball, holding a broom between your legs. I believe colleges were looking into making actual teams, but that was a long time ago. Hopefully, it died out by now.
