The Flames rule the island. The only way to find peace is to destroy the false Flame. But which Flame is false? The wrong decision could destroy the entire island. This weighty decision is forced upon the child who is born with the mark written about in the prophecy. Only that child has the power to destroy the evil Flame and bring peace.
But what if the child doesn't know which Flame they are destined to destroy?
