Between working through the 1960s in the great apple of New York, our protagonist, a young secretary, Odette, wrestles with her mind, while the paper stacks up on her work desk, and her childhood friend, Calloway. tries to figure out how to confess his unrequited feelings to Odette, but Odette seems to take a liking to her coworker Clive. Though Clive seems just invested in his work life. Odette goes through the reality of sexism, harassment, and the way the world treats the unfair.
