Wolves

This was decent, if only a bit linear.

It felt like there was really only one correct sequence of doing things, but it was both fun and simple for the most part. It seems like the game aspects take priority over story elements, and I do think that a good balance of both always makes for entertaining reads. But I don't find this bad, because I found myself enjoying completing this game.

I only wish that there was more depth to the system in general. As of now this feels quite linear and lacking in much detail and story elements, but this does get the gaming elements right for the most part. Because the player must build themselves up before they're able to achieve and earn everything, the journey was short, but it was fun enough.

I must say that I look forward to seeing what you can accomplish with a deeper system in place.

Writing from an animal's point of view can be challenging but rewarding if you go about it the right way. Wolves... does not.

This is an older story, and I think it may have been written at the time by a young author, so I'll take that into account. It doesn't really read as a realistic story about animals in the wild, but rather a fantasy tribal warfare setting where everyone also happens to be wolves. Really I'm not sure what the whole wolf thing contributes to the story whatsoever.

There's only one successful route, and the "gameplay" of the story revolves around a central "hub" page where you can go to different places, try to succeed based on your power level, then go onto the next. You either finish the route as intended or you die.

The writing also isn't good enough to supplement this flawed attempt at a CYOA story. There are hardly more than two sentences per page; the prose is clunky and awkward; there are misspellings all throughout; and there is absolutely no characterization or description of anything or anyone to be found.

So TL;DR: even if the tribal fantasy wolf premise somehow doesn't lose you, the execution on said premise definitely will. 3/8, I have no idea why this was rated any higher but maybe this was considered a banger back in the olden days.
