Player Comments on ENG4U1 Seminar Game

This story was interesting. I guess I would call it a lot more game than story, because there really isn’t a lot of story to the game. Oh, there could be! I think there’s great opportunity here to really increase the storyline and make more of a story. Each page could be enhanced with great descriptions and details about what’s going on at that moment. As it is, the pages are really just factual pages that give you simple choices. Clearly this was written to meet an assignment in a class, but since it was an English class, I can’t imagine that the author couldn’t have put more behind each page.

In addition, it seemed like in many places you were given an option related to how you wanted your character to develop. Some options were more neutral, some were clearly evil, and others were somewhat good. However, those options really didn’t seem to have any effect on the story at all! I think a great opportunity was missed here to have those options affect the story later on. I did certainly appreciate all the options, this game did have a good number of choices that affected the story, even if many of them quickly led to end story links.

Overall this is a nice, classic story with great use of the different choices and options. It is a good CYOA, but I think it has potential to be even better in a few different ways. Thank you for sharing this story with the site!

A fun little game, but not outstanding. This seems like a generic fantasy game where you choose a class before going out to a world with little detail. Some choices are clearly good or evil, but don't seem to affect the overall story. Check your spelling before publishing. Overall, it's just okay.

This game was relatively fun and a nice surprise.

This is not a masterpiece by any means, but was entertaining. My biggest complaint is that the story aspect is pretty weak. Even being a short game, it would have been improved immensely by having a much more developed narrative. But, as it stands, is an enjoyable, though simple, short game.

Overall, fun to play.

You need to show and not tell. There weren't many details and the whole story was just, there is this thing/person/challenge. Do you interact with it or do you walk away? You need more than just a bare plot structure to your story. You need details and descriptions of the things happening around you to drag the reader into your world.

The gameplay was decent enough. Yeah it could use a bit more story but that's just a personal opinion. My biggest complaint is some of the links. I understand putting some personality but seeing a # in an otherwise classical fantasy setting screwed with me. But on the whole not a bad little adventure.

So fantasy-like! I enjoyed it!

So I played the good adventurer and shared the mountain of coins and wonder what would happen if the coins were taken by me alone? ;)

I only found out recently what Leroy Jenkins was. Lol, fun game.

It's a good story, but there isn't much description and the items aren't really used. The length is actually pretty good, but the story needs flesh.

Eh... it is a good rough draft. Try adding more small details. Such as pictures instead of generic items.

It has a few problems. First of all, it has very random page titles and you can't really use the items you get. Second of all, the story is short.

I think that if you fix those two things and make it longer, this story could become a well-written story many players rate highly.

Pretty cool. I liked how your class actually mattered.

Nice little story with many, many choices which I love. The writing was mediocre, but still enough to let me enjoy the story. This is a nice little time waster. Also it would've been cooler if the items actually had pictures. 4/8 average game.

This was certainly different and I found the various game references pretty funny. It's a very short game but i definitely recommend giving it a go.

Short, but clean and simple. A few spelling errors here and there, but otherwise nicely streamlined. I enjoyed it.

Very linear, but still fun.

I'll assume this is for a project, and I found that it was done rather decently. Short, simple, and based on a somewhat familiar tale for many people, this was easier on the eyes than most other stories.
