In this thread, I would like you to post something negative that you see in yourself. I know it seems crazy but you never know.

I hide my insecurity behind insults and sarcasm

I can be rather impatient.

I try to get everyone to like me, even on the internet. Sometimes that means I hide my opinion, or blame myself unfairly for a mistake that I have made but was also made by someone else at the same time. This also makes me compromise too much sometimes and the other person gets an unfair advantage. I'm also incapable of making a good forum game. I get too emotional about stuff people say to me on the internet even when I know it's stupid to do so. Sometimes I think I may be to self-depreciating and under-confident. (Is that even a word?) I back off from fights too easily so my opinion sometimes doesn't get heard. Sometimes I accidently repeat my earlier statements but with slightly different wording. I'm also horrible at spelling and rely a bit too much on spellcheck.

Damn, why didn't I just say that? It pretty much sums up everything I said (except for not being able to make a fourm game and horrible spelling)!

(Your, not you're. {sorry, that kind of mistake REALLY annoys me}) The spelling is mostly spellcheck, and all the forum games I've ever made have died. Thanks about EarthPrime though! It's just lucky it was a short one though, because I was running out of tests! That's why I said you skipped a heap of them.

On a side note, sorry to everyone about that wall of text in my first post, I think I got a bit carried away...

I squander my talent because of alcohol and drugs over the years.

I noticed "squander" isn't past tense. Is this still something you're still dealing with now?

Are your aspirations for what you could have been tied to age at all (ie. now impossible to fulfill), or is it something you can still achieve?

Then write about the drugs and alcohol over the years, write about the hopelessness (towards your abilities I don't know your RL situations) you feel because of these problems be them past or present. Some of it may sound cliche but it'll help!! Just trying to be positive here Mad. Take it or toss (my advice that is) but I gotta say your sonnet you posted as an example was great. if you consider that bad writing then I'd love to see what you consider good.
