If I put a story that had magic powers but was set in the modern day, would it go in Fantasy or Modern Adventure?

Similarly, a modern-day story with sci-fi elements would go where?

First one would go in Fantasy, while the second one would most likely go in sci-fi.

Yeah, don't worry about it too much. The mods will move it for you if it gets put in one category, but turns out to lean more towards another later on.
