Dust off a seat and discuss a good book here...you do read, right?

The Rot and Ruin Series

The books Rot & Ruin, Dust & Decay, Flesh & Bone, and Fire & Ash is one of my favorite zombie book series. Has anyone else read them? The author Johnathan Maberry really brought the characters to life and I really like his writing style.

Decent.

Read those, good series. It created a realistic (or at least interesting) post-zombie apocalypse setting and used it to it's full potential.

Yeah I agree, The setting was realistic I could see it happening.

Especially the kids growing up learning how to kill zombies and the slivers to make sure the dead stayed dead

Game Land where they had kids fight zombies in the pit was a part that I could see happening in real life. Get a couple of power hungry muscle guys that love being violent and through in the zombie apocalypse aspect and you got yourself a messed up place to gamble.

Even after the apocalypse, someone's going to look for ways to make a profit and without laws, why not bring back blood sports?

True, you can't really stop the crazies unless you get a large force, but even then there is always going to be another group of people doing similar or worse things.

Also, it was kind of realistic how the people in the town sort of gave up on the world and decided to adopt a fortress mentality and wouldn't kill all the zombies at the fence because of sentimental people.

Yeah, That's also why I liked Tom so much because people would hire him to put their loved ones to rest. That way the employer doesn't have their brother or sister trying to eat them, and also for them to know that they are not suffering.

Oh yes, he was a closure specialist. The part about zombies that terrifies everybody is the thought that if it ever happened you might have to deal with the walking corpses of your loved ones trying to kill and eat you.

I don't know what I would do if I was in that situation. 1. Leave the house and lock them away to rot and decompose until they are turned to mush. Feel terrible about doing so and always have the thought in the back of my mind that my family is suffering in a house. 2. Kil them and put them out of their misery. Then feel like a complete ass for killing your family and never forgive yourself for what you did. Or 3. Hire another person to silence your family and have a feeling of closure and know your family won't hurt anybody else.

I suppose I'd try to put them to rest and always have to tell myself "They were already dead, it was a kindness to deal with their bodies and let them rest in peace." Of course, if later a cure was discovered I'd hate myself so I guess: Lock em up.

Yeah I think that would be the better option untill you know that their is no cure.

Yeah, lock em up until it is known for sure that there isn't a cure, then let them rest in peace.

You could always pull a Michonne from the tv show the Walking Dead. Chop off their arms and lower jaw and tow them around with you like dogs. Actually that is really cruel, why did she do that?

Yeah, that doesn't seem like the best idea unless the cure regenerates body parts as well.

laugh Yeah, not the best idea.  Overall I think the Rot & Ruin series is amazing.
