Hello everyone! I'm Adelynn: an avid gamer, writer, roleplayer, and all around nerd. My life gets pretty hectic sometimes, but I do my best to make time for my hobbies. I have quite a bit of creative writing experience, though I don't consider myself to be eceptionally talented at it. The writing I've seen so far on the site is impressive and I am hoping to improve my own skills while I'm here. I'm also a complete novice when it comes to coding, so I'm hoping to further develop in that area as well. When I'm offline I enjoy singing, playing guitar, and getting together with friends for some good old tabletop RPGs. My favorite generes (both to read and to write) are fantasy and science fiction, but I'm always happy to take on a chalenge outside of my usual "comfort zone." If you have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to message me. I look forward to interacting with you all!

Welcome to the site! I know the show you speak of, though I must admit I never really got into it. Also, the plural of "crisis" is "crises". It's an unusual one (I myself had too look it up to double check) that a lot of English speakers get wrong so I wouldn't worry about it too much :)

How to keep track of branches on 12/29/2019 8:37:45 PM
I find that mind mapping programs work well for me. There are free ones online that let you color code different branches and add notes where you can keep track of things like variables. Mindmup is a realy good one that I use for a lot of planning and writing projects.

Thanks so much, this is exactly what I was looking for!

Oh, come to think of it it's probably pretty hard to read without dark mode on, huh? Guess I should change it to something that works for both.

Hiding Parts of Links on 12/29/2019 2:31:25 PM
If you put text in the "alt" section, it should show up if the person hovers over the image, so hopefully that would work. Mayana's definitely the best person to answer though, since she has actual experience with it :)

I for one really enjoyed reading through the first entry. Can't wait to read the others!

Changing Link Text Based on Variables? on 12/27/2019 5:23:34 PM
That's a good idea! I think I like having them have their own pages though for organizational purposes, plus I'll need to add the purchase options and link to them from other parts of the game besides the Compendium. I just figured I'd set up that part first so I can get the combat system working (that's probably going to be the most difficut part to script, especially for a newbie like myself). Thank you for the idea though, I might be able to use it in another part of my game :)

205... Figured 200 IF/ELSE/THEN statements would be a lot easier than making links. I'll definitely check out that article though! And if it doesn't work out I can think of a few ways to get around it so I don't actually have to change the link text (and therefore bypass the issue entirely), but they wouldn't look as good. Thanks for the adivice!

Changing Link Text Based on Variables? on 12/27/2019 2:41:10 PM
Is there a way to change the actual text of a link based on a variable, similar to the $PAGETEXT mehanic on page scripts? I could feasibly do it by creating separate links and putting variable limitations on them, but I was wondering if there was an easier or more streamlined way since that method would require creating a ton of links.
