...yes.  There are some scientific fallacies within this story but I ask that you not be a troll and overlook them, they're there to add description to the story.

Some routes are longer than others... And applying life is not always the definite end to creating a universe.

IMPORTANT: "Apply life" refers to adding animate life, as in fauna as opposed to flora. Flora may very well spring up even if you don't apply life.  Flora, however, may show up as a notable species and can also be killed off (and you will be informed that it has) if you make the conditions too extreme for it to handle.

Depends on Brick's tone of voice.  Maybe he's trying to be sarcastic, or just blatantly truthful and that's how much the others will "hate" him.

What do you guys think of a "game" centered around creating a universe (no religious traits or affiliations) by choosing the characteristics of it?

The choices will affect the final epilogue, which will tell you what kind of life lives in this universe (if any), and other tendencies as well as abnormalities found among your creation.  It won't nessecarily be clear what choices will affect your system in a positive or negative way.  

I like how the story tells you you shouldn't mess with the guy, then the first thing your character does is mess with him.
