Eternity Program
unpublished

Set in a world of super-evolved technology and intellectual thought, a program was developed to better society by regulating consumerism, taxes, agriculture, employment, education, family dynamics, and even bio-chemical function. The entire planet abides by this cascading code. Diligently fostered by the collective efforts of the world's best Programmers, its rules and policies enforced by drones called Guardians, the Program is omnipotent, omnipresent, and infallible.

But where did it originate? Where is it leading you? What if the Program was just a clue and therein lies a bigger mystery that could threaten the very foundation of its binary? You are born into this world so make of it what you will, but know that what you make will alter the course of history...

Obligation: Battle for Earth I
unpublished

The universe isn't as large as it used to be; in fact, it's getting quite small. Five main species war for the sake of survival, pushing the edges of the universe where nothing but a wall of mysterious wormholes ravenously sucks up ships and entire galaxies. Are you fighting for the Terrans to reclaim their lost homeworld? Or do you seek mass annihilation in the name of your bloodthirsty Darhgan god? Perhaps you take the passive approach and wait in the shadows, slowly building your Farseeing dynasty? Or you cling to the greater strength of your Terran allies, trading your Murdoc wit and ingenuity for their protection? Or do you work for the Universal Bank, a collection of ragtag species who seek enterprise in the backwater galaxies in exchange for secrets and espionage?

Whatever your role will be in this massive CYOA, don't think for a second you are alone. Along your journey you will encounter other individuals who also hold the fate of their world in their hands, just as desperate and just as terrifying. Make allies or more enemies, the choice is yours, but will those choices bring victory or utter ruin to you and your people? Play and we will all find out.

[Obligation is a series I'm trying out with a new CYOA style that would help alleviate the page toll I've been racking up trying to write soooo many spiderweb plots. I love playing MMORPGS and hope to incorporate the interactivity of an MMO with the personalization of a CYOA. Please be patient while I try and figure out how to do this ^_^; *deep breaths*]

The Third Wave
unpublished

The shadow of apocalypse falls across your neighborhood...

The advancement of humanity jerks to a halt by the invasion and subsequent suppression by a superior alien race calling themselves the Grays. Humans have been judged unfit to rule over Earth by the Universal Legislation of Alien Species (ULAS). Unless humanity proves itself to be worthy enough to join the intergalactic community by the time the third wave of alien colonists arrive, every last human will be eradicated and replaced by Grays, our advanced biological ancestors.

You are only 6 years old when you witness one of the Gray's Messengers fall from the sky in a shiny black pod. Human cyborgs who have already accepted the Logic Chip, Messengers know not fear, greed, or anger. Just purpose. You watch in horror as a Messenger ensnares your neighbors through the Logic Chip that the aliens claim could be the salvation of the human race, if human consciousness is capable of accepting and processing the alien neurological programming. With your life and the fate of humanity intertwined, you have to decide how you will lead your race to salvation or annihilation. Choose wisely.

[Throughout The Third Wave, you will unlock titles, traits, pick up various items, and develop relationships with other characters. Please click on them when they appear at the bottom of the page to add them to your Inventory. Titles can be jobs or temporary plots. Traits describe how you react in certain situations given certain opportunities. Almost anything in your Inventory has a use and depending on your intentions can help you gain valuable allies or information. Some themes included are meant for a mature audience, such as Sex, Romance, Puberty, Sarcasm, and Jokes That Can Be Perceived As Offensive--proceed with humor and an open mind.]

Obligation: A pseudo-forum CYOA? on 9/19/2015 1:00:25 AM

Thanks for your feedback. It's always helpful to get advice from those more experienced in CYOA than I. :) I see what you're saying, forums = chaos and that you would need a dedicated lot of people who actually do follow rules, which is highly unlikely. However, if there is a dedicated group of players out there who would follow rules would it then be possible? If I limited posts per forum event, or RLT, like many literary RPs do, would this perhaps make it more manageable? :/ [brainstorming to the max]

Obligation: A pseudo-forum CYOA? on 9/19/2015 12:37:43 AM

Hello again! I was working off and on on my first traditional post-apocalyptic CYOA and grew bored with only having myself to write with. I get impatient very easily and can't stand a stagnant story, who doesn't? So, I thought what if I could write pages of plots and player choices that open to forums and then back to the main story? That means way more flexibility on my part, but also makes for an exciting action-packed MMO-type storygame that won't just be me the creator and you the player, sometimes it will be you the player with other players, sometimes just me, and sometimes mostly you. Get what I'm throwing down?

I'm still relatively new and haven't read many of the forum stories, but I hope this sounds like a good idea to enough people that we can get at least 5 people to play. That way the PvP aspect isn't stretched too thin. The story starts here. Coauthors, players, and general advice welcomed wholeheartedly ~

Alien Chronicles? Yes, I first read it when I was ten and I reread it to this day. I think I've read it a total of 6-7 times now. You can read further on Amazon

Thank you for your support. My main goal is to slice a fresh piece off a very classic and iconic pie, so to speak. My worst enemy is technology thus far, but I am learning and advancing every day and currently re-vamping and ending the first chapter...finally! I hope you continue to follow the progression of The Third Wave.

Thanks for your greetings! My user name is from a sci-fi series by Deborah Chester in which "abiru" is the name of the enslaved alien race the main character is born into. My real name "Kimani" is West-African meaning Sailor.

The Synopsis

The first councilman, Cornelius Tartus, unified humanity 126 years ago. Immigration laws were dropped, borders of every country and continent opened, and global trade skyrocketed due to little or no taxes other than the universal sales tax. The economy blossomed into a giant bubble of fresh wealth and new beginnings. Every child was taught at an early age three main languages--English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese--in order to further enhance diplomacy and trade. Higher education, healthcare, and retirement were free for all citizens.

However, the advancement of humanity jerked to a halt by the invasion and subsequent oppression by a superior alien race calling themselves the Grays. Humans have been judged unfit to rule over Earth by the Universal Legislation of Alien Species. Unless humanity proves itself to be intelligent enough to join the intergalactic community by the time the third wave of alien colonists arrive, every last human will be eradicated and replaced by the Gray colonists.

You are only 5 years old when you witness one of the Gray Messengers fall from the sky in a black pod dark as night. Human cyborgs who have already accepted the Logic Chip, Messengers know not fear, greed, or anger. Just purpose. You watch in horror and awe as your neighbors are enslaved by the Logic Chip that the aliens claim could be the salvation of the human race, if human consciousness is capable of accepting and processing it. You run and hide in your family's bunker, not knowing for how long or how safe you really are. With your life and the fate of humanity intertwined, you have to decide how you will lead your race to salvation or annihilation. Choose wisely.

I should specify *constructive* criticism...

Hello, I am abiru. I am a newb to chooseyourstory, but by no means am I a newb to create-your-own adventures. I loved R.L. Stine with the rest of them, had a pretty good run on Quizilla with a fantasy series cyoa, and I have been seriously writing (as in for the purpose of publication not recreation) for 10 years now. I am a grammar-nazi's worse nightmare, but I encourage criticism of all sorts, even the grammar-kind.

The Third Wave is a sci-fi post-apocalyptic type story in which the main character is given multiple opportunities to survive and save humanity before the third wave of alien colonists known as the Grays arrives to annihilate it. You start out at 5 years old and mature through survival, skill-building, and relationship-building. I am tweaking with variables to develop a triad skill system comprised of Sanity, Spirit, and Stamina, enhanced by traits such as Courageous, Cowardly, and Cautious you develop through your actions and story progression.

In the first chapter, you have a choice of sex between male, female, and intersex, and a choice of sexuality between gay, lesbian, heterosexual-male, heterosexual-female, bisexual, asexual, and pansexual (depending on your gender you can be male and identify as lesbian). Your sex and sexuality will change how various characters react to you, and I am still working out kinks on how to incorporate romance-type interactions. You also have one life interest which helps decide the main plot line and open up personalized opportunities as you develop your interest through related traits.

I am struggling to piece together the first chapter, and the second chapter is just going to get more difficult as it starts branching out in four directions, and I can't even imagine what the third or fourth chapters will be like. I guess I have bigger Spirit than I do Stamina or Sanity... However, I hope to gain some valuable suggestions and welcomed relief. Without further ado, the Synopsis:
