Help me! =c

I registered yesterday and wanted to write my very first story. It all goes well until I decide to add links. My whole editor on that page "collapses"(and I didn't press anything)and it looks similar to this:

Edit toolbars: bold italic underlined.....

I can click bold, italic, etc. but It doesn't do anything, so I end up without having writing space no matter what I try. I also use Firefox and have Windows XP, if that helps. I'm also really glad I finally managed to post on forums since it didn't let me(same with PM) so your reply would be really helpful(and yes I tried logging on and off!).

Uh... ... I'm not sure I understand what your problem is, (my editor has never "collapsed" before) but... you just tried logging on / off the site? You might wanna try restarting your computer, maybe using a different browser?

A screen shot could help.

There's a button on the bottom right that expands the editing space. Have you tried using that?

I know the problem, I have the same thing. My suggestion is to go to your profile page (the page where you can edit your profile - not view it) and switch the "Rich-text editor" off. Then learn the very basic HTML to edit your text inside the basic-text editor. For a reference website click here.

Have you tried using a different browser?

Some people don't have other browsers to use, I prefer using E11 :P it just works faster on my system than firefox or chrome. Although I use chrome when it's an emergency (I.E. when explorer crashes).

It's not like browsers are expensive, everyone has other browsers to use.

It's a matter of preference, some browsers work better than others on different operating systems. So some people will not use (or have) other browsers due to preference.

That doesn't really change JJJ's suggestion of trying a different browser to see if it works.

At the very least he could load up internet explorer, since that's still on his system (assuming he uses windows).

I wasn't attempting to change the suggestion, I was just saying that some people may not be able to try a different browser, or may not want to. :s useless comment really - but an opinion nonetheless.

Sigh.

Ford, if you're not willing to try a different browser then the problem isn't important enough for anyone to try and help you solve.

I'm not the one who asked for my problems to be solved

.....

Sigh.

It was a conversation about generalities. You were talking in general terms.

Well I misunderstood when you addressed me, my bad.

Unless you're on a very esoteric operating system, you have a lot of choices. But even if you don't prefer it, trying a different browser helps us troubleshoot.

Try updating your browser (if you're using XP I'm assuming you're firefox isn't up to date either).
