Everytime, EVERYWHERE i type the word place goes back and messes up my typing

EX: (This is going on without stopping)

That is what the typing bug is. it is annoying and it messes up my chats and storygames.

It seems to happen mostly in short bursts.

It's an error with the text editor. Specifically, it has to do with the spell checker.

So click on the ABC Checkmark button and it should get better.

Killa's right.  What's it's doing is, when you misspell a word or type a word that isn't recognized by the spell check, the cursor jumps back to that word (so you can correct it.)  Problem is, you've usually typed quite a few more words before the spellchecker catches it. Turn off the spell checker and you'll be fine.
