Anyone ever noticed the finished/versus ratings?

For instance, a game i just looked at was Finished 33 times. However, there are like 45 ratings. Doesn't that seem strange? That would mean that multiple plays from the same person are counting ratings but not finishing.

ive seen that a few times myself mad. thats why ive never cared for the ratings system. its still buggy, not to mention too easily manipulated to show a different rating than what its worth. but thats life.

Yes dammit! on one of my games it says finished twice, rated 8 times!!! does this make sense in some wierd american way, like the evil Month/Day/Year date format

Think outside the box,  Do you need to finish the game to rate it?  Finish implies the best ending.  This is just getting to any ending.

Then explain how the website automatically figures out the best ending(s)!

Actually this is quite simple to explain, because it happened to me as well. When you unpublish a game to make changes, the ratings stay, but the website re-sets the number of times finished variables. So, every time you unpublish then republish a game, the number of times finished resets to zero, but you get to keep your ratings. That's why there's a warning message that pops up when you go to unpublish a game, letting you know that some statistics might get lost if you unpublish your game. The ratings are not messed up though.

Should we change it so that the ratings are lost as well? maybe we should have a version system, where the game rating is based on the latest version.

No because then users can erase ratings tehy dont like which is stupid.  Dont publish an unfinished project.

This would work well for you, though. You could make a mattias the one knight version 2 and correct all the typos/spelling errors/capitalisation errors/poverty bugs. Yes, your games too have bugs. Remember that. Besides, If all the ratings are cleared then people can still rate the game again. But its not a good idea for your game to be marked down for bugs after you've fixed them.

Typos, Spelling and Capitalisation are not bugs.  Poverty is not a bug.  There are no bugs in Mattias.  You just suck at it.  The Tower does have a few bugs though.  And what about the rating trophy.  If people can do that then its seriously unfair for people trying to get the trophy.  Dont publish things with bugs.  If you do, its your own fault. Me included.

Or, if you do have a bug than play the game before you publish it and make sure there aren't any. There was a huge bug in my FDCD game that would have ruined the endig if I hadn't fixed it. That's why I don't get how madglee was able to do i in MCIGOAKT and JJJ in all his games.  I would have  gave up.
