The Intergalactic Hair Odyssey of Zogmort, the Luminous Llama

Once upon a particularly strange Tuesday in the land of Lumibrite Peaks—a land where clocks ticked backward on weekends and marshmallows grew on trees—there lived a llama named Zogmort. He wasn’t just any llama. Zogmort’s fur was the pride of the realm, though it often caused chaos. His hair was a living rainbow, shifting shades with his every mood: shimmering emerald for curiosity, blazing crimson for excitement, and starry midnight blue when he was sleepy. But there was a catch—his fur grew six feet per hour. This wasn’t just inconvenient; it was a cosmic-scale problem waiting to happen.

Zogmort, blissfully unaware of his hair's potential for catastrophe, spent his days gallivanting across Lumibrite, munching on glittergrass, and singing songs with the wind. His best friend, a sarcastic owl named Glim, often warned him, "One day, Zogmort, your hair will get you into big trouble."

Zogmort would laugh, his fur sparkling pink with joy. "Oh, Glim! Trouble is just another word for adventure!"

The Great Hair-Tangle Incident

It all began on the first Tuesday of the Month of Jellybeans. Zogmort, feeling particularly drowsy after a feast of bubble-berry pies, decided to nap beneath the Rainbow Fountain—a magical geyser that shot liquid light into the sky. As he snoozed, his fur began its usual marathon growth. This time, however, the fountain’s magic supercharged his follicles. His hair stretched across the valley, winding around candy cane trees, curling through caverns of crystal, and even tangling up the wings of the Lumibrite Pixie Patrol.

By the time Zogmort woke up, he was cocooned in a multicolored fortress of his own fur. The entire realm had been brought to a standstill. Squirrels were stuck in midair. The otters’ synchronized swimming competition was canceled because the lake had turned into a woolen swamp. Even the clouds, those usually carefree wanderers, were now trapped in a fluffy prism of llama hair.

Panic spread. The Council of Lumibrite, led by Tizzy the Talking Toad, called an emergency meeting in the Glowstone Amphitheater.

“This is an unprecedented crisis!” croaked Tizzy. “If we don’t solve the hair problem, Lumibrite Peaks will soon become uninhabitable!”

The council debated for hours. Some suggested using enchanted combs to tame the hair. Others proposed launching Zogmort into space to stop the spread altogether. Finally, a shy fox named Whiskers timidly raised a paw. “Why don’t we just… ask Zogmort for help?”

The Hair Balloon Plan

Zogmort, hearing about the chaos his hair had caused, was mortified. His fur turned a guilty shade of lavender. “I never meant to cause harm!” he said. “I’ve always dreamed of traveling the world, but I never had a way to do it. If you can help me manage my fur, I’ll leave Lumibrite Peaks and explore faraway lands.”

Inspired, the council summoned the legendary Spiral Forest Barber, a wise old goat named Clipmaster Clive. Clive arrived with scissors forged from meteorite shards and a brush enchanted with phoenix feathers. For seven days and seven nights, Clive worked tirelessly, snipping and styling Zogmort’s hair into an enormous hot air balloon. It shimmered with every color imaginable and some colors that hadn’t even been invented yet.

With the balloon complete, Zogmort waved goodbye to his friends and ascended into the sky. Below, the citizens of Lumibrite cheered, their voices echoing across the peaks. “Farewell, Zogmort! May your hair bring joy to the world!”

The Adventures Begin

Zogmort’s first stop was the Misty Archipelago, a cluster of floating islands hidden by perpetual fog. Here, he accidentally joined a pirate crew after his balloon landed on their ship. The pirates, enchanted by Zogmort’s shimmering fur, made him their captain. Zogmort soon discovered that strands of his hair, when dyed gold, could be used as currency. He bought the entire fleet and transformed it into a traveling hair salon, offering luxurious makeovers to mermaids, sea dragons, and even a very shy kraken.

From there, Zogmort traveled to the Dunes of Dazzle, a glittering desert where sand glowed under the moonlight. Here, he encountered a band of singing scorpions trapped in quicksand. Using his hair as a rope, he pulled them to safety. Grateful, the scorpions pledged their loyalty and became his backup singers, joining him on a world tour that culminated in a legendary concert inside the Crystal Caverns.

Into the Sky and Beyond

But Zogmort’s wildest adventure began in the Floating Kingdom of Skyripple, a city suspended on giant soap bubbles. The ruler, Sir Sudsalot the Magnificent Walrus, welcomed Zogmort with a feast of cloud-cakes and nebula nectar. All was going well until Zogmort sneezed—an innocent achoo! that sent ripples through the kingdom. One by one, the bubbles popped, and the entire city began to fall.

Thinking quickly, Zogmort used his regrown fur to weave a massive parachute, saving everyone. The citizens hailed him as a hero, and Sir Sudsalot knighted him, declaring him the “Llama of Infinite Imagination.”

But Zogmort wasn’t done yet. “The skies are wonderful,” he said, gazing at the stars. “But I wonder what’s beyond them…”

If you a actually wrote this it's a good children's story cl concept, I really like it. Reminds me a bit of Roald dhal. With that being said towards the end it reads more like a summary of events, as opposed to a fleshed out story. If that was the intention just to get the short story across that's fine but just keep in mind that if you write the real thing make sure that it's more fleshed out, and there's more showing instead of telling.

Did you really write this?

This is well written with a good cadence and almost suspiciously good breakdown into semi-chapters.  It reads as a children's story, although I had issues with the inconsistent application of the key feature of the story - the hair growth.  It is clearly stated that Zogmort's hair grows at six feet an hour, however this only seems to happen at random times, and then at far greater rates than that.  The first time is explained by the geyser, but not when he does practically the same thing in the soapbubble city.
Other reviewers have a point in that the last half of the story is just a rapid fire list of scenarios, not an actual story.

She didn't write this.

Having read her storygame as another writing sample, I agree.  This does not feel like it was written by the same person that wrote the Dance Epidemic.
