Exactly one hour ago, I posted a wishing well thread saying how I wanted ratings to be balanced. The replies made me realize how stupid my idea was, and introduced a new idea. Guests should not be able to comment or rate storygames, due to the fact that they are mostly trolls and spammers. They should make an account if they wish to do this.

I don't have a problem with the not rating thing, but some of the most amusing storygame comments come from guests sometimes.

It would be best to just remove comments and ratings from guests, due to the fact that it can cause spam ratings of 1/8, and if someone wants to comment or rate a story, they should put in the effort to sign up. You say your fine with removing this, but you're amused by the comments... Well, guests can be amusing but it's best to remove the trollage. 

Despite his words, End finds certain comments more amusing than not. It's actually why his storygames aren't eligible for the comment removal in Draw My Attention threads.

And if we remove commenting from the guests, we'll be dealing a great blow to this gem of a thread here. Think about what you're doing here :(

Yeah, I could be convinced that the guests filthy unpersons could still comment, but just can't rate stories. Though it's probably an "all or nothing" kind of deal as far as coding it is concerned.

Plus Bannerlord is probably right that we'd probably still have people angry enough to just register to leave ranting comments.

I think some comments can be amusing as well, but I believe removing commenting for guests would be excellent for the comments section of storygames. Forcing people to get an account would weed out the drive-bys, trolls and some children that sometimes plague the comment section. And if the trolls still get an account, then they are no longer invincible to bans.

We'd most likely still have people who would take the time to register and leave a hilarious comment if this gets implemented.

But what about the potential points we'll be missing out from no longer being able to recommend comments for deletion from trolls, Banner!

Ah, I wouldn't be truly making CYS great again if I were to stand in the way of this decision, now would I?

Fine... I don't feel particularly passionate about advocating for the opposite of this anyway :)

The real issue is that we're unlikely to be seeing any coding changes to the site, regardless of how much support an idea gets. This board is basically just decorative.

I mean, it's a wishing well.
