Like, say, if I'm on "Page 2" and I create a link to "Page 3" I can click the blue arrow and jump forward directly to "Page 3" without having to go out to the page list.  What I can't seem to do is go from "Page 3" back to "Page 2" without going out to the page list and selecting it. 

there should be a go back button.

Well, yah in the simple editor that could be useful.  In the advanced editor, all you have to do is keep page 2 up.

Oh ok, I was talking about the simple Editor, it has a back button already, I dont use advanced so I dont know about that one.

I thought the CLASSIC editor already had a back button?

In the ADVANCED editor, it constantly opens up new windows, so there's really no back/forward to go ...

Yes there is a back button in the classic editor

So how would the ADV work?

If the PAGE A window is open and 10 pages link to PAGE A, -- see what I mean? I nthe Advanced editor, the strategy is to simply close the window and you will be back to the previous page ...
