This feature was rejected 6/14/2012: send them a link to your unpublished story, all they can do is read it. this should probably be moved to the parlor room

I notice you can allow others to edit your story through a co writer setting but what if you don't want them to change anything just read it?

If you don't want to publish it to everybody but do want a person to have a quick read , but dont want them to change anything without your permission.

I think this is needed.

Ok but there should be a proper feature though. Low priority maybe but still would be nice

Actually, this idea has a lot of merit, I think. Even with Ugilick's solution, you'd have to put sneak preview on, and then anyone can look at it still. Plus, they wouldn't be able to see any behind the scenes scripting, which can be really helpful sometimes.

What would be REALLY cool is if they could leave "notes" on your pages that show up when you edit, but are not published with the story. And would solve a few of the drawbacks of coauthoring for editors. I mean, imagine how awesome it would be to just see this:

I'd love it. Its definitely wishful thinking though. Hahaha.

Maybe someone can figure something out? 3j, why don't you email Alex and see if he could get some coding done or something?

I'm not sure if you're aware of the situation at CYS fergie so I'll just expand on what JJJ said: Alex started this site as an assignment in his web programming course years ago. For a while alexp put new things into the site, the last major revamp probably being the introduction of scripting a few years ago, but CYS doesn't make money, so he can't afford to spend all his time fixing bugs and implementing new features. JJJ was made an admin just a little while ago because none of the original administrators (alexp, Chocobot and March) have the time to visit the site anymore.
