Wouldnt it be cool, and encourage participation, game making, etc... If you had out of Ten how Ihigh a member was ranked... All admins get 10 and members get a rating based on a formula of your choice?  This is on almost all other forumed sites and I think it would be magorly cool to have that here!

Now do tell -- how should the system calculate your membership status? Here are some possibilities, but how do these factor in to a rating?
 - Games Made
 - Games Published
 - Forum Posts
 - Games Rated
 - Newbies Helped? (from the newbie forum?)

--- oooh here's a thought. What about turning this into the MAG Points thing? The higher mag points, the higher you're rated.

Ok, the formula could look something like this...

1. Amount of games made could give a certain percentile of a point with a maximum of Nine points in all for members..

2. Forum participation: I.E. Amount of posting or length of tiem posting in the forums.

3. Features accepted: Every time someone gets a cehck on there lightbulb there points go up..

4. Anything else you can think of could go in there and over time members could gain more and moer points and maybe make it up to 9.  Winning the contest could be worth some points, etc....  It could all be done with programming and it wouldn't be manual just like your goal for MAG points...  At the left it could get from 1 (Green), all the way to 9 (Red), in different shades of colors all the way...

YA: Games rated!, that would be cool.  And the one hundred dollar contest.  If you make it in the top five then you would get a certain amount of points, etc..

The more and more I think about it, this should be what MAG points are -- your rating would be based on the #of MAG points you have (and of course, the scale would adjust as ppl score more points).

Oh, and the full idea for MAG points is totally automatic. Every "transaction" would be recorded automatically -- i.e., when I click the "accept" button on a FWW post, it would award you with say 5 points.

YES! So I would make IE, 5 points for this one if this is incorporated?

Probably on acceptance (lit bulb), not completion (checkbox). It could be a superawesome idea that I don't do for a long time, but you should still get the points for it. Speaking of points, we need to come up with how many points you should get.

Here's a brainstorm on things we COULD give points for .... there are more i'm sure ....
+ Publishing a Game for first time
- Administrative Unpublish (bad game)
+ Accepted FWW Feature
+ Administrative "Good Reply" bonus  (like helping a newbie, helping figure out a bug, etc)
+ Featured Game
+ Writing Articles
+ Refering a member (maybe, if they type your username in the box)
+ Rating a game (required when yo ucomplete a game, anyway, so this would mean playing a game, would work only first time you rate)
+ Creating a game (would only work first few times)
+ ???

We also need to figure out HOW many points you should get for those actions. Note that most would be automatic (FWW Feature, Publish, etc), some would be manual (bonus points). Whatchu think?

Ok, First Here would be my system:

Level one Member: 0-50 PTS

2: - 51-100 PTS

3 - 101-200 PTS

4 - 201-400 PTS, ETC (Not quite sure but you get the picture)

Publishing a game, Why only the first time?  Why not first five games so that author could get a hang for it?  (+20)

- Administrative Unpublish (-20 for first, -30 for second, etc... Same system as legal one)

Accepted FWW Feature (+10)

Administrative "Good Reply" Bonus (+4, because you could help every newbie on the, site or just post alot like me)

Featured Game (+50)

Writing Articles, what do you mean?  (+25?)

Refering a Member (+30)

Rating a Game, Why only the first? It should be every tiem because it would encourage traffic (+2, only though)

This goes under Publishing.

Being in a top five Contest (+100)

Does that sound good?  Feel free to make changes?

Ooooh, I like the idea of increasingly worse Admin Unpublish penalties. March would absolutely love that. One thing I think would be cool is, if a member gets below 0 points, he cannot create a game. Points would overtime recover to 0. But I think you'd have to publish like 3 bad games for this to happen. Something like that.

But so far I like it ... to answer your questions ........

"First Time Publish?" -- I mean, first an individual game is published. If you publish same game 10 times, you only get one award. 10 games published get you 10 awards.

"Rate, why first?" -- Same as publishing -- you can only get points one time for each game. If you play & rate the same game 10 times, you only get one award.

I totally agree, I thought you meant you could only rate once for points in the whole time you have a membership... lol, I see now.  I did think of that for March.  I have a question though and feel free to say No if I'm going to far:

If a player does increasingly well, can you give them Moderate Admin powers.  Such as a moderator status etc...  Please??  If theyve shown commitment to the site especially?

Oh definitely. I'm all about moderators (makes our life easier). However, at this point there is no "moderate powers" -- it's all or nothing. It'll take quite bit of a programming effort to change that.

I'm going to focus on "community features" right now -- hop[efully that will build up the community.  Then we can focus on getting some extra help from you guys to help us moderate the community.

Ok.  I understand.  I agree, I just cant wait for moderators because well, I had a really close call on another forum and I was ALMOST a moderator and then I was away for Two weeks and I missed the deadline by 5 minutes AGAIN.  I pretty much lsot hope at that point so I left and then I came ehre and now I'm not leaving if I can avoid it!

Also, speaking with chocobot (in Iraq) he came up with the concept of "using" points on goodies like tees, and other merchandice. Used points would be retained in your account, but couldn't be used in a challenge or to get other stuff.

Cool, Do i get points for my previous actions?  That would be really cool!!!~

Tier 1: Rookie Member 0-50 Points

Tier 2: Junior Member: 51-100 Points

Tier 3: Sophomoer Member: 101-200 Points

Tier 4: Senior Member: 201-350 Points

Tier 5: Moderator (Junior Administration office): 351+

Yes, you will get points for games, published games, etc.

Those points are probably good for now, we will need to constantly adjust those for Point Inflation (you know, as everyone gets more points). Hwoever we need to come up with creative names. This is a task I'm no good at. Feel free to give it a shot, I can have chocobot think of them. He's good at tha.

Once implemented you could reward points from past actions if there is an easy quick way to do that.

More on the FWW points. 2 people could talk about how the feature will be implemented. Then the person who started the conversation would get all the points. I think they should be distrubuted unevenly. The person has an idea but dosen't have a clue how to make it gets 25% and the person who does give a way to use it earns 70% and a person who talks about how it could be used wide spread could get 5%. Of course that would be an example. You would have to be the final judge on that.

Well in the future, I will make it so you have to explain the feature much better than a simple suggestion.

But anyway if someone does add a lot to a disucison, help a newbie, etc, us admins will (err, when i program in the feature) give you a bonus.
