I'm writing a story about a murder mystery, I did some of it and if like help for the rest

I'm writing one of those, too. My issue is not knowing where to start. I have my endings and most of my middle planned out, full character bios and back story (just for me so I know how my characters will react), but that darn beginning... Should it start at the point of death, after the death, or before? And *how*?

What's your current issue? Maybe we could benefit each other with a brain storm sesh.

Start before, but don't mention any names when doing the murder scene.

Not sure I follow. I'm clearly not going to tell the reader who did it, but in my story the assembled characters all see a man die, and the main character questions, searches and spies to find the culprit.

Uhh... Not really sure what to advise here since I have no idea what the plot is or what it is you need help with.
