Greek Mythos

I absolutely LOVE mythology, my favorite being Greek. I have a few questions that I will ask.

1. What is your favorite battle/war?

2. Who is your favorite Titan(ess)/God(ess)?

3. Favorite Hero?

4. Favorite Monster?

5. If you were a Greek Hero, which monster would you fight? Why?

Greek Mythos

Mine:

1. I really dunno.

2. Favorite is definitely Hyperion or Iapetus, probably because the former has control over fire and the latter can heal anything.

3. Odysseus, because I liked the trickery and cunning abilities of him.

4. Hydra, because its breath will instantly kill a man and because of its power to grow back its heads.

5. I would fight a Chimera, because it would definitely be an interesting battle. Not sure about me winning, though.

1. Kinda unoriginal, but I do really like the Trojan war. #TeamAgamemnon

2. I'd say Apollo, as he's the god of all the things. Seriously, he's the god of the sun, music, divination, the plague, wisdom, etc.

3. Odysseus, he's more of a brainy kind of hero, as opposed to for example Achilles. I also totally didn't rip off the Odyssey for one of my stories...

4. Don't really have a favourite one, but the hydra, maybe? I mean, if hypothetically speaking I was conquering the world, I'd definitely choose the hydra, what with the nearly unkillable unless you get close enough to decapitate and cauterise the wound and all.

5. I'd say the dragon of Ares, that Cadmus fought near Thebes. It's a son of Ares and its teeth turn into helpful soldiers that you can use to found a city.

PROTIP: "Mythos" is an interconnecting fictional continuity created by one or more authors, "Mythology" is an interconnecting continuity created by old storytellers and priests to describe and explain events of historical, environmental, or theological relevance.

1. The Crusades. That was a somewhat hilarious clusterfuck.

2. Camazots

3. Genghis Khan

4. Nyarlathoetep

5. Dracula. He seems challenging enough, without being an impossible pain in the ass. But I wouldn't know how to fight him because in this situation I would be a pagan. So maybe I'd fight Beowulf's dragon instead. He's got bling and shit.

Greek Mythos

Ah, okay.

Greek Mythos

1. Titanomachy

2. I've always hat a soft spot for Hephaestus, since he gets treated like shit by most of the others, then Athena. For a Titan, I guess Prometheus.

3. Orpheus

4. Typhon or the Manticore

5. I can't imagine the Sphinx would be that hard to beat.

1. What is your favorite battle/war?

Uh, the fight between the gods and the Titans, dur.

2. Who is your favorite Titan(ess)/God(ess)?

It's a tie between Nyx and Hecate. I love those two ^-^

3. Favorite Hero?

Odysseus or the guy that killed Medusa.

4. Favorite Monster?

Empousai.

5. If you were a Greek Hero, which monster would you fight? Why?

A griffin because then I could smack down with it and force it to become my eternal pet :D. Either that, or Cerberus.

I do love my Greek mythology. Let's see...

1. Don't really have one, so I'll go with the Trojan war.

2. I guess Dionysus, God of wine, parties, festivals, madness, chaos, drunkenness, drugs, and ecstasy... He seems like a fun guy ^_^

3. I'll go with Theseus, 'cos he was sneaky.

4. Centaurs are cool.

5. I guess I'd fight a Satyr, because... I'd probably win. ^_^

Greek Mythos

I feel bad for the satyr.

Greek Mythos

Satyrs aren't monsters...

Greek Mythos

Theseus was kind of an arse though, as he abandoned the woman who saved him on a random island...

Greek Mythos

Yeah, that's true. I mean he could've at least given her a lift somewhere cheeky

Greek Mythos

If Dionysus was a real person, he'd probably be your secret boyfriend.

Greek Mythos

1. Titan War

2.Calypso cause she knows the buiz

3. Achilles

4.. Dogs of hades.

5. HAH, I would be more set on finding calypsos island.

Greek Mythos

Calypso. You like her for her looks, don't you?

Greek Mythos

Nein. She to raunchy rumbustious wouldn't mind having a nymph party with all her minions on that island though.

Greek Mythos

Oh, I love Greek myths.

Siege of Troy.

Prometheus.

Achilles.

Satyrs. Those party-loving bastards are great craic.

Hmm... I'd say I could handle a Centaur.

You are trapped on an island with no escape after your crew has crash landed. The island itself is somewhere in the aisles, and legends say a Chimera roams the grounds. The island consists of a rather mossy landscape, and a deep cave. What do you do to survive?

Greek Mythos

uhhh.. so I know nothing about greek mythology, but I guess I like the trojan horse and umm.. Zelda?........

Greek Mythos

What?

1. Why'd you post here then?

2. Zelda does not count.

3. Why didn't you reply to the OP?

Greek Mythos

Hey im pretty sure the trojan horse has something to do with the Greek stuff + i love Zelda and  what is the "OP"?

Greek Mythos

Original Post?

Greek Mythos

Zelda isn't Greek Mythology ^_^. Greek mythology is the religion of the Greeks.

The OP is the Original Post. Are you on threaded view?

I think so.... i am using a laptop

Greek Mythos

Roughly, how large is the island?

Greek Mythos

About 10 by 10 miles.

Greek Mythos

Not very much to manuever around, but I imagine that's not big enough to be able unable to spot it wherever you are on the island, unless there's some sort of vertical obstacles, like forestry that prevents the view from one end of the island to another. In the first case, it would probably be easy enough to avoid it. If you're not alone, you could assign someone to watch it in the process of survival tasks. If the second is true, it'd be a lot harder, but you can use the forestry to hide. Either way the, the first course of action is to find/create a shelter.

Greek Mythos

In my opinion, the scariest thing would be actually sleeping. Even if someone is guarding.

Greek Mythos

Yeah, the second priority would be to create some sort of weaponry to fend it off if it does catch you.

Greek Mythos

If mythology was real, we'd be in BIG trouble.

Greek Mythos

I would build a raft and get the hell off the island! I don't wanna get eaten by the chimeora thing!

Greek Mythos

1. The one where they all die.

2. Kratos.

3. Kratos.

4. Hera.

5. Arachne : she's a spider.

Greek Mythos

WOW! you really nailed that , *High five*

Plot twist: Ragnarok spills over into the Greek pantheon.

Greek Mythos

I love ancient myths in general, but I'm more fond of Egyptian and Nordic myths, tbf. Even though Greek and Roman myths are still pretty fun--not sure I can have a favorite God / Goddess, though. They were pretty much all dicks, except maybe Hades, who struck me as 'firm but not unfair' and lonely enough to snap once and kidnap a pretty girl, which hey, considering his bros regularly raped chicks and the goddesses who found out about it always blamed / punished the victims, I'd say kidnapping is seriously the very least out of any crimes they've committed as a group.

Greek Mythos

But, but, where would Greek mythology be without horny gods? I mean, about 90% of myths happen because Zeus can't keep it in his pants.

Greek Mythos

99%* Fixed that for you.

Yeah. For a society that saw passionate romantic love and lust / desire as a type of madness / disease, they sure loved to make stories about it.

Greek Mythos

Nah, the other 10% are stories about fate, and how the most hilarious things happen in you try to avoid it. Like killing your father and going full Zeus with your mother.

I actually always thought the Romans were more 'all emotion is bad unless you're a woman', and the Greeks were a bit more open about, you know, love and such.

Greek Mythos

Well, okay, yeah... though, boning your relatives was just kind of a theme in general.

The Greeks were totally open about love... as long as it wasn't 'eros.' Agape, storge, and philia were fine, but Eros usually involved a lady, and ladies were "halfway between a man and an animal" and "more confusing than the enemy" and a bunch of other disturbing, sexist shit. Athens and Sparta didn't really agree on that so much, though, so it depended on where you went.

Greek Mythos

Yeah okay, that's true. Eros with another man, though, totally fine. At least for young men in Athens, and young men and the elderly, etc. etc.

Greek Mythos

Mhm. Though... huh, was it really referred to by the same term? It's been a while since I studied that particular (and honestly very creepy) practice.

Greek Mythos

I actually don't know if it was the same term, but I'm kinda afraid to google it.

Greek Mythos

Smart man. It's, uh, a subject to research with caution if at all. xD

Greek Mythos

;_; The pottery. The pornographic pottery. God, Greece, why?

Greek Mythos

You sound like the expert on the topic, so I'll leave it up to you to answer that question.

Greek Mythos

Wait, the hell is that supposed to mean? xD I looked up the definition once and I've read a bunch of articles that talked about Greek culture / Japanese culture and included that topic among several, but I am not an expert.

Greek Mythos

1. The only major one I can think of from Greek myth is the Trojan War, but I'm going to go with the Titan War where the gods beat the chicken soup out of the titans.

2. Hades

3. Odysseus, though Perseus was probably the most "heroic" of all those Greek heroes.

4. Minotaur

5. Those flesh eating horses seem like they would be easier to fight than a Gorgon or Hydra.

Greek Mythos

I recently had learned a lot about Greeks in Social Studies this year.....so it's pretty sad I don't remember a lot...(THINK)

1. Ok I did like the war between Sparta and Athens partly because the class was goofing around and choosing a side and having a fake war. (I was Sparta!)

2. Poseidon or Apollo

3. What do you mean exactly? Shall we be specific? Hero is a popular name... But I would say Theseus, when he killed the Minotaur. Even though he ditched his gal on an island, that jerk.

4. Tch, Minotaur. Duh.

5. Minotaur....see 3 & 4.

Greek Mythos

Greek Mythology- *nerds out*

1. The Trojan War.

2. Kronos for the titans, Hades for the gods.

3. Perseus

4. The Hydra.

5. I'd fight Typhon, namely for the glory I'd get from pummeling the guy who pummeled Zeus.

Greek Mythos

My favorite god is Dooleyooley. He's the guy with a spear that punishes necromancers.

Greek Mythos

1. When Jason and Cadmus plant the dragon's teeth and a shit-ton of Ares' finest sprout up to kick ass. Granted, it wasn't really a battle, 'cause Cadmus just tossed a few precious shinies into the mess and let them all kill each other.

2. They all have their ups and downs, but I think I'll go with Hermes. He's the patron of thieves and magic practitioners. Nightblades ftw.

3. Heracles. I can relate with his anger issues.

4. That giant fox thing that ate Theban children.

5. That giant fox thing that ate Theban children. I am not Theban, and I am not a child.
