Hi everyone, nice to meet you!

Hi everyone, nice to meet you!

So I just joined and I’m excited to see what this site has to offer!

This site was actually suggested to me by someone on tumblr. I have this (maybe too) grand idea to rewrite The Quarry (video game) as a choose your own adventure. But have no clue how to make that work on either tumblr or ao3. However, this site makes me really curious and excited! (Though might be better to start with a smaller story to see how it works…)

If anyone has some good tips/tricks/information/threads for writing a choose your own adventure, please let me know! (Not writing a story in and of itself, or plotting one. I have some experience with that :) )

And if anyone has some recommendations for fun (not too long) stories to read here, drop those too! (I love practically all genres, as long as the story is interesting!)

Welcome Sir Knight,
Making any kind of game on Tumblr is pretty much impossible since that's just a social media platform, unless you meant Twine which would make more sense. AO3 is more for non interactive stuff since all they really have is a basic text editor.
If you want to get started I'd recommend the good old RTFM. You can find multiple articles in tutorials for anything site and writing related here: https://chooseyourstory.com/help/. Starting out with a smaller story using the basic editor is a good idea when you don't have much experience writing interactive stuff.

Either way good luck with your project.

Welcome to the site! I'd recommend first just going to the main Storygames page and browsing around, those are some of the most enjoyed games in each category.

Leavimg a rating and some thoughts would be appreciated, these games can be a lot of work and that's the only way they know someone out there is reading. Most are also here looking to improve their writing so honest criticism is encouraged.

As for writing a game yourself, besides spending some time reading first, the main thing I'd recommend is starting off small. If you've never written a branching game before, they can really start to get away from you and it's easy to bite off more than you can chew with some grand plan for an epic and get overwhelmed or burned out.

Also, just be aware that we have a policy against AI writing here.
