We need Obama because the reason the economy is in doom is because of the republicans. John McCain is old and Sarah Palin is more concerned in attacking the other party. Obama WILL bring change. IF McCain is voted in, it will be a continuation of bush's government. Remember the William Clinton days of the 1990's? The economy was running smooth and gas was in the $1.20-1.60 range. This bailout bill will not strengthen the economy in the immediate future.
I think hillary should have won because it would be like having Bill in the office again, which was one of the only times the budget was even improving, I mean look at the economy now, I dont think McCain or Obama can fix it, McCain being a carbon copy of Bush (enough said there!) and Obama not having any experience. And don't even get me started on Palin! McCain thought that women would be stupid and vote for him because he chose a woman! He could have at least chose a smart woman who could name more than one of his accomplishments (if he has more than one) ! And all she's their for is to be an attack dog who can act like other people are more stupid than her and Obama's bad! Who cares if she can see Russia from her house! I can see the moon from my house, does that make me an earth to moon ambassador?!?! And nobody should care what the other person can't do (see any of McCains adds) I mean if you were confident that you were a good canidate then you should say what YOU CAN DO. Dirty Politics these days.
I see why you rant so much, that felt good = ) . lol
Ever since money stopped being backed by gold economies became uncontrollable. I saw the VP debate replay in my time zone and was disgusted by Palin's evasiveness and use of the debate to speak to the viewers. I think one of the reasons she got away with what she did was that Biden (I think that's his name) was being cautious about criticising a woman, possibly giving McCain more terror ammo.
I was also disgusted by the conflicting data and statements. I think the mediator/moderator should check each statement's veracity.
About the illuminati... I think i'd prefer someone dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge than, oh, mike huckabee, who didnt make it past the preliminaries but if he did would probably be burning every copy of "On the origin of Species" that he could find.
Jesus, Anubis, your posts... suck! ><
Ok... 1. You're the dumbass. Just sayin' :P
Also, I know you were joking with the whole "magic" thing, but I still didn't know exactly what you meant, as you weren't being specific. Tax cuts for businesses sounds a lot like tax cut for the rich to me. Sure, Obama wants to get out of Iraq, but you understand that he isn't going to transfer funding to the people, right? He says he wants to get out of Iraq and INTO Afghanistan. (Sure, there's a reason for being in Iraq. More power. That's why we're everywhere. You don't fuck with a nation with 700 bases in 130 countries.)
As for the coupons for solar panels and such. That's up to the companies; if they want to give coupons, then they do it, not our federal government. <.< What they could do is give people X-ammount of money for doing things like buying solar panels and whatnot, but the old question araises: With what money? Also, if everyone buys solar panels, it'd put the current sources of engry companies out of business, which would lose jobs. Ethenol really isn't that cheap either... Thanks to that crap, corn costs more - that's all it's really done.
If you're saying that the environment is no problem, or a minor one, then really, why not just go back to good ol' black coal? *sarcam*
As for the cars, yeah, car companies could do that. They won't, but they could, and the federal government's not going to so a damn thing about it. I don't care who promises what. Plus, the same thing goes with the oil refineries and such. They'll all be out of jobs too. Besides, I don't want to mess with something in my car that can potentially blow up cities. *kidding*
Who wouldn't want to smack him in the face? Well, I don't want to get any McCain on my hands... You do it. :P
What makes you think that we watch McCain ads and take them as if they were fact? You hurt my feelings with that. (Not really)
JJJ... You know, Canada is a part of America. Fuck the US is more like it. ;)
Also, Lincoln was cool and all, but his methods were bitch. I mean, I'm not a fan of slavery, but still... Lincoln was kind of an ass.
Super special side note: Damn it, Anubis! Stop posting so much! Tone it down a bit. I spend too damn long in reading and responding to these freakin' things. >< ... Ah, whatever, do what you want. :)
Less than 8 years until there is no "dollar", only the "Amero" and there is an established union: "The North American Union".
Much like Europe, Africa and Oceania. Although Asia is close behind.
So no.. FUCK AMERICA. Not the US, America.
Haha, I stand corrected. Fuck America!
Sorry I haven't posted for a while. My internet connection has been very erratic (death to telstra) but I was shocked (well, not that shocked, she's right-wing and all that...) to learn about the amount of money Palin wasted on her appearance. Come ON! A haircut does NOT cost $2000!
Haha, no...
That wasn't for a haircut. There's no way. It's not even possible. She probably just bought lots of coke. Yeah, that's it, coke! :D
She does foreign affairs!? There goes the neighbourhood... I wonder how she managed to get so far. Do Alaskans like... things like that? Or is it because the population is low?
Prior to become McInsane's running mate, had she ever even left Alaska? She's really not very bright...
prior to becoming their candidate, had obama stopped teething yet? just wondering.
nate
Haha, nah, he's still workin' on it. But seriously, has Palin ever even left the country more than once?
did George Washington? or Jefferson? foriegn affairs is only one aspect of presidency or VP..ency. lol
Neither McCain/Palin nor Obama/Biden, nor really anyone I hear has the right view on Russia. Particularly, the Russian-Gerogian Conflict of 08. Frankly I think that some people still think we're in the Cold War. Whatever. The point is: Russia was keeping its borders under control, Russian style. Georgia is run by an asshole dictator that we, the US, put there to try and stop it from becoming Soviet. Now, Russia feels like Georgia has no place there, and that stuff should change.
The US thinks, "Oh, how could you attack this country when it hasn't directly attacked you?"
What gives the US the right to blame Iraq for harboring the terrorists responsible for 911? If anything, Saddam Hussein kept the terrorists OUT. Hussein didn't accept any nukes from the A.Q. Khan network because he thought it was a trap (queue Ackbar). In other words, the US was "defending its interests" half a planet away! That at least warrants Russia being able to defend itself from its neighbors which could actually do some mischief!
Sorry, I meant that when US politicians say "Russia had no right," I'm saying how they can't talk.
But you know, US Americans - that's the correct term btw - are uberly-judgmental, particularly about foreign nations and cultures. My favorite example was when this one news reporter (was it Fox? Wouldn't doubt it...) went over to Iraq and scorned the people there - who were captured extremists I believe - for "forcing" their women to wear the veil. Ooh, the evil veil! Look! 'Evil' and 'Veil' even share the same letters!! No, but basically they were dissing the veil and saying how it "oppressed the women." Man, Westerners are so self-rightous. I don't recall her name, but the Queen of Jordan was interviewed by some dude - Fareed Zakaria, forgive my spelling if it's wrong - and explained how the veil was optional. The more orthodox women would usually wear it, but you weren't FORCED to. Maybe it's different in Iraq, but I doubt it's so evil. I mean, is the yarmulke evil, too? That's worn out of humulity.
Anyway, my point is this: You can't blame a country for a terrorist attack, kick down their door, barge into their cities, overthrow their government, drain all their oil, and then start making fun of their culture! That's just foul, and it makes Americans look bad! Grrr...
Oh, yeah, Georgia. Frankly, Putin > a lot of US Prezzies. A LOT.
I love how you have been brainwashed by the media and the stereotypes into your conclusion.
Frankly I'm saying that we have no right to openly mock their culture in front of their faces.
Nope.
lol
Okay. There's this guy on Youtube. His username is drinkingwithbob. His videos consist of screaming into his camera about how wrong Obama is and how great McCain and Palin are. I'm a liberal and he is the most hardened conservative I have ever seen on the internet.
I keep telling myself that he's making valid(?) points and that yelling a lot is his video style. At the end of the day though, I still hate his guts. I try to be open-minded, but the way he keeps treating Obama like a villain doesn't do much for my vision of the Republicans.
Before the two-party controversy starts, I'd like to say that I do not necessarily dislike the Republican views, but their actions and attitude, especially during this election is disallusioning.
Anyways, I just want people's opinions on Bob. All his screaming starts to make my brain shut down after a while so it's nice to be able to discuss with a group of informed people.
I don't like the right wing, and McCain/Palin in particular. Their messages seem to be based on FEAR, DOUBT, IGNORANCE and STEREOTYPES. It is a tactic that evokes emotion, not reason. Fear is the mind-killer. Keep the people afraid for "national security" and you can JUSTIFY ALMOST ANY ACT. Examples include the Iraq war, Vietnam War, Korean War and the hideous treatment of asylum seekers in Australia.
I also don't like the way they seem to be promising the rich corporations and their excecutives help, instead of the average guys who actually need it and don't have a massive bank balance.
Finally, if McCain dies, Palin takes over. And Palin's reign would be... a historic benchmark for stupidity.
Maybe I said this before, but realistically, Obama will win. Or at least McCain will lose. The only people who'd vote for McCain are the idiots who are too stupid to do research that they are brainwashed by McCain's lies. That's all he does, McCain. He LIES.
Well, even so, if there's one thing that I agree with McCain on it's Nuclear energy. It's gotten a bad rap and everyone thinks of how hazardous it is. However, with the right research it's clean and dependable. I believe Penn and Teller made an episode about it. ('Course, I can't believe everything they say, can I?)
Good god, somebody finally gets it. McCain bases his campaign, in my opinion, on bashing others. He can hardly answer a question without bashing obama or another Candidate.
In our 8th grade election yesterday, Obama won, 72.2% to 27.8%
Word, Silver. Probably every single time McCain speaks, he focuses on how Obama is bad. But he's always lying! And I love it when he says "Obama admitted it openly!" when he's talking about THE OPPOSITE of what Obama said.
GOD! IT PISSES ME OFF!!! The problem with McCain is that I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE'S GOING TO DO other than bitch about our two wars in the Middle East and praise Nuke Energy. Fine, Nuke Energy isn't bad, and it isn't going to turn the US into a whole big Chernobyl...unless we have a meltdown. Then shit would go down. Otherwise, there's no reason to exclude it and use it along with Wind, Solar, HFC, Ethanol if you want, and Poopower.
Lol. Not a big fan of nuclear energy, but thats your opinion. But god, one of McCains biggest points is that Obama has no experience. Guess what McCain, NEITHER DID LINCOLN!
Geothermal is nice and great and there's really nothing wrong with it, but it's just not enough energy for the country on it's own. I KNOW WE CAN WORK GEO INTO OUR COALITION OF ENERGIES, but if you have such a fetish for Geo, move to Iceland. Hell, I'll go if you don't want to. Except I'd need to learn Icelandic first...
No. You can't. You just can't. lol
Geo just isn't that effective AS OF NOW, and last time I checked, we are living right now. But I'm all for researching more efficient Geo.
I saw some comments by Mc Cain supporters last night... they were incredibly stereotypical. They actually BELIEVED the lies and fear campaign and thought Obama was a muslim; and therefore a terrorist, evil, antichrist, etc...
They talked about defending their christian heritage and the constitution (which ironically separates church and state to prevent state-sanctioned witch-burnings and the other products of fundamentalism)
Just as I was convincing myself that the people I saw on chaser weren't common... I shudder.
So...no-one has anything to say about drinkingwithbob in particular? Alrighty then.
I've been thinking about and...why are conservatives so harsh on liberals? I've just been noticing this now, but conservatives seem to look down on liberals. Then again, I could be naive and not see that the wind blows both ways, but I have yet to see that. Based on what I've seen so far, here are the extreme stereotypes:
Liberals: Self-proclaimed 'Intellectual' or mother. Huge egos, don't know what they're doing or what politics are. Surrendering wussy socialists/anarchists/unamerican pagans. No moral values, letting anyone get away with anything. (Oh, and Obama is a terrorist)
Conservatives: Uninformed inbred hicks from the South with IQ lower than their pants.Gun nuts with no compassion and too much pride. Next class is stuffshirts who spend all their time writing articles on how stupid liberals are and how much the war is worth it. Some are obnoxious enough to make it as a newsanchor or editorialist (Is that a word? Oh by the way, McSame is really old).
So yeah, I think these are how many of people from these philosophies see each other, albeit exaggerated. Is this at all accurate or is it not as bad as I think? Just thought I'd ask for thoughts.
Don't forget; conservatives are racist and superstitious/fundamentalist, kind of ironic considering they hate their muslim counterparts.
Colin Powell made an excellent point during an interview - I believe when he was endorsing Obama, but maybe in a later interview. He was replying to how everyone is accusing Obama of being a Muslim. Then he said (something close to this:) "The immediate answer to [the question of whether Obama is a Muslim] is 'No, he is a Christian and always has been,' but the true answer is 'So what? What if he is a Muslim?' You see, there's too much racism and prejudice in America, and people use this...idea that Obama is a Muslim as if he would be a bad president all because of his religion."
Pwned. Frankly, America is too religious for its own good. We are [supposed to be] a free and equal country and society, but we just don't have that 100% yet.
so, in the same argument he says both: we are too religous, yet we need more freedom...does he realize that freedom of religion is something people are intitled to?
also, someone's religious affiliation is important. juts like all their other views in life. i sure as hell wouldnt vote for someone who believes in scientology! those people are wackos!
more of a generalization. but whatever.
in order to have religion and state separated, we would have to have a government that doesnt give us that freedom. if they are separated then we should have it with or without government sanction. sort of a catch 22. but thats politics. as for our slogan, our government put it on our money. we tend to follow the laws of our government. lol besides, even atheists dont seem to have a problem hording their money.
the basis for that law/commandment is based on the same thing. they both have a higher power controlling the masses. God or Government. so the basis is simple, "Cause i said so".
either way, its the masses being controlled by someone.
Can a politician really ignore their religious values/morality to follow what they see as the letter of the law? Why are we talking about this, anyway?
People should be free to practice religion unless it breaks existing laws, (such as murder) and ONLY because of those laws.
At the same time, it should not interfere with politics. An official should be elected on the basis of merits, not religion. Infact, those "debates" need to be moderated to a greater degree. There should be a fact checker and the rules should outlaw religious or racial predjudice.
And to Seth: A politician cannot, but his/her colleagues must stop them from doing anything predjudiced. The decisions should not be made by one person. Also: we are discussing this because it is interesting.
I just voted, "Not McCain," on my ballot. And I voted for Mr. T for sheriff. This whole two party system is such a farce.
yeah, i hate the 2 party system. but having too many parties only dilutes the already messed up system. (atleast in my opinion it would).
OBAMA WON!!
Ohio decided the election, since Obama had enough electoral votes to gain a decisive victory from Ohio. Even if McCain won over every single other state still contested, Obama would win.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
