Any other fans here? If you don't know, they're a production music company that makes a lot of trailer music and stuff. They're music is utterly beautiful, and I like listening to their Dreams and Imaginations tracks while writing. The songs cover a wide array of human emotions. The track "Forsaken" gives me chills everytime I listen to it. You guys should definitely give these tracks a try:

Makes a nice change, but I can't help but feel they need a bit of rhythm.

Do me a favor and skip to 2:00 -- I bet the two artists would make a nice mashup.

Can't really say it's my type of music, it doesn't keep me entertained (or entertain me in the first place I guess). As in it's not that it's minimalistic, as in I like minimalistic stuff if it's done right (different genre but this is a good example of what I'm talking about), it's just the music doesn't really feel like it has soul to it. I don't know, it's hard to explain.

That's completely my opinion by the way, you may feel the same way about whatever I listen to, which is fair enough.

What October is referring to, for me, is intensity. Intensity not meaning hardcore, just that it makes an emotional connection. Music without intensity is just awkward sound, for me.

I like this. And maybe for the same reason that others don't. I don't know that I'd listen to this music for everyday stuff, but I like it for writing. Most music distracts me so much that I can't write, can't think. But I don't know. This music is nice, but without distracting me from what I'm doing.

I might listen to it when I'm doing stuff for my story. Thanks! :)

That's interesting! I generally listen to really intense emotional, feeling-provoking music like La Dispute and harder Radiohead.

Mmmm... Love radiohead. But, I don't know. I have a hard time thinking about anything but the song. I don't know if I'm weird because of that, but its seriously hard.

Personally, I'm a fan of Harry Chapin. I'm not sure if anyone else out there likes him, but my favorite song of his (and this is the song I first heard by him) is Cats in the Cradle. In Shrek the 3rd, Donkey sang a couple verses while on the boat with Shrek:

"Cats in the cradles and a silver spoon, little boy blue and the man on the moon."

It's just a wonderful song. He makes the best songs, but all of them are sad. Especially "The Rock". Would you like being crushed under a huge boulder?

When I'm writing, there could be a nuclear war all around me and although my writing would reflect that, my focus would be on the writing. The more powerful the effect of the music on me, the more intense my writing gets.

Yes, usually music has an impact on me too. If I'm listening (or thinking) to sad music, I'll write something sad. If it's a rock song, I'll write more intense stories. I find it interesting how music has such an incredible effect on people!

See, me? I listen to music -before- I write, and that affects how my stories turn out. So I kind of get what you two are saying. It puts me in a mood to write a certain way, and so it helps.

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty normal Zikara. Music is a great moodsetter.
