I’m looking for volunteers to sink their teeth into my ‘Dead Man Walking’ Zombie Survival adventure game before I publish it.

The game is 100% complete, fully playable, and very long (2000+ pages). I have proofed it over and over and think I have all the bugs out, but you never know.

What I’d like are some folks willing to play through it in various ways and provide useful feedback on any problems or snags they might find.

Let me know here or by PM and I’ll send you the Link to the game. As of right now, I don’t have the game preview-able, but will set that up if I get any interest.

Playtesters that contribute useful feedback will be listed with thanks on the game Title Page.

I did and nearly got the best ending too. For spoiling reasons, I won't post why I didn't get it.

I know where you likely slipped up. Crazy good game. I'm going to take an entirely different path tomorrow.

I'll also explore a couple of, "I wonder what would happen ifs" I have.

Definitely a great game, no doubt in my mind. I'm going to do the same tomorrow, because I played it for 3 or 4 hours before finally reaching the end.

I got up to get snacks and drinks several times, and it took me about 5 hours. haha

May I partake in this dance of dance too?

I would but I want to see the story in all it's finished glory once it's published.

So, here’s a general question for anyone (playtester or no) – Should I place this in Horror or Modern?

Horror initially comes to mind because it’s Zombies. But, really, how scary are Zombies really? Zombie stories are really not so much about the Zombies as they are the survivalist aspect. The zombies are just the setting for all the rest of the drama. It could be construed as a ‘Modern’ survival simulator with an undead flavor…

Thoughts?

Many horror stories are in a modern setting. The presence of monsters screams horror to me. BUT, if you want to enter it in modern and you don't face serious disagreement. Go for it.

To me, it wasn't a very 'horror' type story, but then again, Army of Darkness is considered horror.  So I think it would be horror, especially since it isn't in the spirit of most modern survival games (guns, guns guns,)

Is hard to say. Am thinking in terms of films and the first two zombie survival films that spring to my mind are Dawn of the Dead and I am Legend (though I'm not sure if they're really zombies). I'd definitely class Dawn of the Dead as a horror since it's all about people trying to avoid getting eaten by zombies, but I'd class I am Legend as an action drama since it focuses mostly on the main character having to struggle with living on his own in a world where everything wants to kill him. From what I've read so far I'd say you could go either way since your story combines desperately trying to avoid getting eaten and looking in depth at the main character and his past and emotions. Personally though I'd say it'd fit better into Horror.

(I'm springing into Aman derails threads mode, so bear with me for a moment)

I am Legend (which was based on The Omega Man, which was a much better movie) was definitely horror, considering how the whole film was constantly put into a dark perspective. I think the lighting and scenery also effected it, since from what I remember, the area was incredibly dark, and dreary. It gave off a sense of hopelessness which is important for a horror film.

Yeah, I'm tending to agree with everyone here - Right away, you would expect it to be horror and wouldn't think anything of it to find it there. If I put it in Modern, then you might think 'why is this there?'

So I'll go with the more obvious of the two - Horror it is =)

I predict another "which horror story should be unfeatured thread" very soon, lol.

More of just a general discussion than an actual vote. JJJ makes the decision really, we just give our input.

Actually I just realized something! The Modern section does have a free feature spot, so that way a game wouldn't have to be knocked off for this game to get featured... That said I do think the game's more Horror.

Things are looking pretty good now, I think I'll be ready to publish the game by later this evening =)

Anyone currently  Playtesting the game or who has volunteered to do so, please submit any feedback (if you haven't already) by this evening before I publish, so I can credit you for it on the Title Page.
