Questions about a storygame? Thoughts on Eternal? Any other IF you're playing out there?

Unpublished games

Alright, you know what I just figured out like five minutes ago?  That if an un-published games are enabled with the sneak-peek box, then players will be able to play it, even if it's unpublished.  So if you are working on a project that you want no one to see (or play) yet, then don't enable that box.

How did you find that out?

Well, Briar Rose helped me out a bit, although not directly.

I figured that out myself.

Its fun to play games that aren't published, to see how the game at least starts, but most of the time, you can't comment on the story to tell them how good/bad it is.

Your not supposed to comment on unpublishe stories, that's why I never inable sneek peek, I will list stories that I am working on on my profile, though I'm too lazy to update the list, because I've dropped both the games under the games I'm working on heading for now because i'm working on 2 more projects one of which has about 30 pages.

I always have sneak peek disabled, if I didn't my profile page would be 3x as long. Another strategy is to mark where you want end-game links, and then when you're done with the story replace the fake eng-game links with real ones. That way no one can play all the way through your game.

Keep in mind it IS against rules (or so I've been told by a moderator) to rate unpublished games; because it gives you the 1 point for rating.

Wait, wasn't there some other thread with BZ like this one?

There is a thread where some random noob read one of BZ's unpublished stories and said "There might be something wrong, here. Good story though."

That silly person.

there are ways to view an unpublished story even if the box is ticked off. It's easy.

A method to stop anyone from viewing is making a dummy page, with no text, mark it as first page, and thats what players will see when they try to peek at the unpublished game. When you've finished the storygame, mark the real starting page as such, and publish it!

Then how are you supposed to test it if you can't access the game. And I've not found a way to view games with sneak preview not enabled. I guess it's one of those things I'll never know.
