Or, rather, imagining needing to kill an innocent (if doomed) man for the sake of staving off your family's starvation and hearing his dying pleas made for his life and the benefit of his loved ones, only to then remember the way the world was before you were exposed to such desperation and ugliness--kind of like a second loss of innocence, but for adults.

Oh, nah. I've enjoyed writing a lot of horrible things, including scenes involving cannibalism. Besides, it's artistic expression! You should be enjoying yourself!
Everything I write lately feels like it's "off" in tone somehow. Maybe I just need a vacation to get my muse back, it's like I'm not comfortable writing anymore. :\

Thank you for the compliment. I've seen you write some good stuff though... and don't get me wrong, I know my writing doesn't suck or anything like that. I have some talent, it just feels awkward to write anything right now and I guess I'm seeing it in my work, even if it's not actually all that noticeable.
