Genuinely asking: why are you here?

Alright, let me make it clear. I'm working on my first story game and want to complete it as soon as possible. I think I got a really detailed plot and have a whole saga lined up. There's just one problem... I sometimes lack motivation and I can't bring myself to write. So I decided to ask more experienced writers and hopefully get some sort of way to motivate myself more. I know I should have started this thread in the Newbie Center or something, but I thought I'll get more experienced writers and more feedback.

Watch YouTube, listen to the sound of rain, sad music, etc? I struggle with this myself, and it's not very easy to overcome.

Great! Thanks! I watch YouTube a lot.Sometimes when I think about the idea, I think it's distracting. But I'll try it out anyways!

Just in case you misinterpreted that one, I was sincerely asking what motivated you to join CYS, there wasn't judgment in my question.

Oh. Shoot...sorry. Well as a kid, I had always liked the idea that you could control your fate in a story. I fell in love with these types of books and read them as much as I could. Recently, I got in touch with some school friends I haven't seen in years and I felt a wave of nostalgia when they recalled that I used to tell them these story games. I decided to search it up, and stumbled across this site. I had a look and liked what I saw.

I'd recommend harnessing the motivation that brought you here. Whether that means re-reading old stories, bouncing ideas off your friends, delving into other things that make you nostalgic (I sure do,) or just thinking back. I'd also recommend reading other games to get ideas for things you can do that you might not have thought of before.

If I need to feel energized, I usually pick a bunch of songs to suit my mood. I wrote a lot of pages on my game by listening to YouTube playlists. xD I tend to listen to really upbeat stuff while writing horrible tragedy because ... contrast is fun and I don't get burnout, I guess. But I've also listened to dark stuff to set a mood, too. Alternatively, take a break and do something mindless. If you let your thoughts wander, you tend to get inspired. Take a shower, go for a jog, tidy up a room, play a simplistic game, wash some dishes, I've had great ideas from all of the above.

Yeah. I usually do read other peoples stories to get in a mood. But I also should dig up some old school stuff to inspire me. Like I said, I should really start getting in the habit of listening to music while writing. Thanks for the advice!
