Well, I certainly have mixed feelings about this one, but I went ahead and rated it pretty high as it might be good to have reasonable examples of what an education game should look like on this site. All in all, it was decently written and certainly would be an effective tool in conditioning students as to the right path to take in terms of energy and sustainability.

I've never taken a class covering the material, but was easily able to pick out the right answer on each one by the tone of the option, and once I got a pattern, by the politics of the writer. I won't be uploading to blackboard, but trust me, I got a badge on every question.

It does seem a bit utopian in that there was never any sort of bankruptcy that happened as a result of some of the rather expensive plans that were put into place. I also think it's funny when creating a committee or organization to regulate a thing solves a problem instead of actually giving solutions. I did notice that not all of these were written as being in the exact same city, so it makes a bit more sense for bankruptcy not to matter.

I'm sure you or the textbook supplied at least some minor counter arguments. Other than the rather obvious and leading biases and the utopian world serving as the setting, this wasn't actually that bad.

A nice way for students to learn and make choices. The author made it very easy for them to understand.

As far as a class oriented exercise, this is well written with little to no SPAG issues and only a couple of odd phrasing instances that jumped out at me.

The story is cohesive and the choices are reasonable enough that even someone who hasn't taken the class can logic their way through them. The options and descriptions are also well constructed and communicate the immediate and expected long-term impacts of changes well.

If only we could have all our Congresspeople work through this. I would be very interested in seeing their scoreboard. The concept of building that scoreboard and using that for grading the exercise is a good one and fairly well implemented, although it might be even smoother using some $ITEMSTATE adjustments to save the clicks of picking up the badges for correct answers. You could use variable setting statements to automatically pop the badges into inventory. This way there would be no worry that someone forgot to click the badge to pick it up before moving on.

Well done Corda_Casan. For your first storygame this is far more impressive than most.
