The Court

This game is set in The Court, which is ruled by Zaren. Time moves strangely here... As does everything else.

It's the first thing I've published. Please forgive it.

This isn't really a "true" storygame. All choices in it are really just false leads --  it all branches out and then returns to the trunk. Hopefully I'll come back to this one day. Fix it up, finish it, whatever. But for the time being... Enjoy what's there, I guess.

EDIT: I'm continuing work on this story via Choice Script: http://www.choiceofgames.com/forum/discussion/749/the-court/#Item_28

This will be my first game, so don't judge too harshly :)

So I thought I'd mention that I'm continuing work on The Court, though now I'm using Choice Script, for a few reasons.

I just find it a better system. Easier to edit, stats feel better, and it's so more efficient to have everything in one place. Plus maybe I'll make some money off of it. I mean no offense to this site, it was a great start, but this is a better fit for me.

But I thought I'd give you guys a heads up.

A few things have been added. I'm getting better at coding and I'm really excited about this.

I've got a thread about it on the Choice of Games forum. Just in case you haven't checked out their site, you should.

No. It's inspired by him, but that's really the only role he plays in it. I was just using that as an example of how the character would function.

However, considering I'm asking for a co author, I would be willing to change my opinion on that. A cameo might work well.

I just believe that an entirely original character and realm would be easier for me to write.

So I have an idea I really like. I will typically start a story, do a page, and stop, but I think this might be the one that finally breaks that habit of mine.

It's inspired by Sheogorath, of the Elder Scrolls series. Basically just the idea of a mad god in a rough medieval setting, though.

It's set in The Court, where everyone but the upper ranks of society is... well, mad. The "king" himself is rather eccentric as well. For example, I've got background where he orders all doors hanged and burned at the stake because he had an argument with one and the door won. The Court is like a place where people go when they sleep, or die, but the king is one dreaming here. I'm thinking the end goal is to become the new king, but I haven't narrowed things down yet. I've got maybe five pages going so far.

I'm wondering if anyone would like to co author this story with me. I'm thinking that will supply the kick in the ass I need to get going.

If you are interested I can send you the first few pages.

I put in a few different works and got a different answer many times. Chuck Palahniuk came up a few times though, so not completely random.

Hello on 10/1/2011 10:52:25 PM

Hi. :) I'm new here, just joined. It's the best site of it's kind that I've seen so far. I've been reading the stories for a while though, decided I'd try my hand at it. I've already started a game. Only a few pages done, but I really like it so far.

So... Yeah. Nice to meet you all
