Fresh Meat - baiting and hooking thread on 4/29/2018 10:03:11 PM

Man, this is a really dark topic. Is this how you guys try to get people involved in the forum? By pressing them on discussions that are uncomfortable and upsetting?

I mean, I'm fine cause I'm use to dark debate, but this is just a weird thing to be quizzing an infrequent member on.

The main goal of a society should be to keep as many people alive as possible. If you're dying of a terminal disease there's no point in prolonging it because there's nothing you can do, If someone's mentally ill, that's not a death sentence. You can get better and as a society that's what we should aim to do.

And how would that harm others? Whether you die through suicide or assistant suicide your death is still going to affect others. Unless you're talking about something else, but I don't know what that could be.

Then no.

Ugh, I hate repeating myself.

If they're dying and it's lot of pain then yes.

I'll add that in both cases you need consent too. In the pet's case you need consent from the owner, and in the human case you need consent from the person dying.

Pink

I don't like it but I do see that sometimes it is necessary to put down an animal if they're in too much pain and aren't going to live for much longer anyway. I detest shelters that euthanize pets just because they don't have enough room or the animal's been there too long. I get the reasoning and it's a much more complicated, but there are a lot better alternatives, especially in this century.

Adding variables together? on 1/11/2016 5:40:29 PM

Okay, thanks! I had another question though.

What if I want to show the percentage of how close someone got to a particular result?

Like for instance, let's say there's a page A and page B. There's also variable X, Y, and Z.

To get to page A: X must be 6, Y must be 4, and Z must be 5.

To get to page B: X must be 3, Y must be 9, and Z must be 3.

Now, at the end of the game let's say the player got 5 for all variables. They can't get either option because they don't have the right set of numbers.
But I want to give them what they got closest to, so I say "if they got numbers between 4 and 6 for all three variables, then they got to page A". This works cause now they'll get page A but not page B.

However, let's say there's a page C and to get to this page: X must be 5, Y must be 5, and Z must be 6. Now they'll be given both links. For the purposes of my game that's okay, they can both links so long as they can end up somewhere, but I still want to show them what they got closest to.

So, I want to show them they were closer to C then A. Like, "you were 99% a match for C" and "you were 95% a match for A".

Can I accomplish that? Is that do-able?

Adding variables together? on 1/10/2016 11:03:47 PM

I want to add variables together on page and then divide them so I can create an average of the variables to show the player on screen. How would I achieve that?

I realize I can show variables numbers on page by using %% but I don't know how to add or divide them against each other.

Flavour Text for my quiz on 5/11/2013 11:07:32 PM

So, I've been working on some flavour text for my personality quiz (well, actually I've been working on it before I started making it but I just didn't feel like implementing any of the flavour text or the pics in the beta version) but I'm sure if it's long enough or is any good. Here's an example of what it'll be like:

Calm and quiet.
You posses a mixture of kindness and boldness.
You can be very patient, but you don't like to wait forever.

It's going to have two adjectives and two sentences following it. I'm just worried this isn't going to be long enough. The problem is I have over 700 possible outcomes and it's going to be hard to come up with a long description for all of them.

Thoughts?

Thanks. I don't think that's some half bad advice.

I know, I'm already working on it. It's going to take awhile though.

So, I made a quiz but some people are saying they want it to be longer. The problem is I'm all out of ideas for questions. Anybody got any?
