Would it be a viable option to create a mobile/tablet version of the site? It could potentially allure new members to the site and also improve the connection for the current ones because it is much more convenient to access CYS through a portable device than a computer.

Opinions?

I don't think it's necessary. I'm on my iPad 4 right now, and the site runs smoothly, even on mobile Safari.

Then something needs to be fixed, if not a full mobile site. I simply cannot post on the forums on my phone; many others have reported the same thing.

Unlikely to happen any time soon though :/

I've been using the site on an iPod 5th gen with safari for two years and never encountered a single problem with connection (unless the site was updating). Not to mention I'm on Australian Internet, which is generally slower than a snail with meth.

Similarly, during the few times I've come here via my iPhone 4S, I haven't had any more problems than normal. Jelly Bean is another story.

Hmm...I guess it's just a problem with my crappy Internet. Ok then, thanks for the responses guys.

I highly doubt it's your internet that's the problem. Many have reported that they cannot use certain site functions on their phone, including myself. It works for some, but not for all. Not much you can do about it.

It's true, CYS has many problems on mobile devices. For example, I can't post anything on my Sony Xperia T3, and can just send private messages. I wouldn't mind a mobile version of the site (or even better, an app), but I don't think it's in Alexp's first plans.
