24 hours instead of 1 week to delete 1/8 rated

In the existing guidelines stories can be deleted if after one week they still have a 1/8 rating. In my experience stories that have a 1/8 rating after 24 hours of such a low quality it is unlikely they will advance any higher - if they do it is only to 2/8 where they clutter up the site as mediocre stories that unfortunately aren't bad enough to be deleted. As long as an author puts SOME effort in it is impossible for their story to receive a 1/8 rating, the only exception I can think of are very young (below age 8 or so) authors who can't spell and write about one sentence per page.

Almost all stories rated 1/8 are troll stories or stories that are so bad they aren't stories at all and are indistinguishable from troll stories because it seems impossible that the author can really be that dumb without deliberately trying to be. To save time why not amend the rules so stories that receive a 1/8 rating are deleted after 24 hours instead of one week. It would be easy to change the rules, easy to enforce and would have the benefit of having the new stories section of the site clogged up with crappy stories that annoy or demoralise the community, look bad for new members and isn't fair on authors who genuinely try but have their stories pushed out of sight for days or weeks by crappy stories produced by the socially retarded :)

It is impossible that any story of some quality will get a 1/8 rating after 24 hours so the only stories that would be affected by this rule change would be the crappy stories that would get deleted anyway. I'm just suggesting that we speed up the process to help clean up the site faster :)

Wow I type fast and miss out lots of words :D

Paragraph 2 should read "it would be easy to change the rules, easy to enforce and would have the benefit of NOT having the new stories section of the site clogged up with crappy stories that annoy or demoralise the community, look bad for new members and isn't fair on authors who genuinely try but have their stories pushed out of sight for days or weeks by crappy stories produced by the socially retarded."

Sorry, it's late, I'm tired:  I think it's a misunderstanding, will.  Mods will delete crap stuff anyway- we're not deliberately leaving things to give them a week to get the rating up.  The one week thing was because ppm were gaming cheap points for reporting storygames that would have been removed anyway.

The original purpose of draw my attention was to clean up older stuff that had fallen thru the cracks.

It was actually making it harder for me to do my job because everytime I logged on, there were notifications of ppl pointing out to remove things I would have noticed & dealt with anyway, but now I also have to read thru the thread to see who to give points for it (& also I don't think ppl really deserve points for happening to be online when I'm not / telling  me to do something I would have done anyway .)

Ah I get your point, the site rules for minimum standard stories might need clarifying a little :) I understand about people only being awarded points for spotting stuff more than a week old and possibly it might be worth penalizing people who repeatedly point out stuff that isn't at least a week old. Yeah, I can see how it could be more of a hindrance than a help with The Modding threads but everyone is keen to get more points :) It's good for helping to keep the site free of crap and yeah, it's good to know troll stories will get snipped as soon as they are spotted, I was just worried about that point because the site seems to be getting a lot of them lately :(

Also at one point we were actually drawing a distinction between merely unpublishing the game and actually full on deleting it.

Yeah... a lot of unpublished games seem to sneakily get republished in their original form when they think no one's looking... I think obvious troll games and republished crappy games perhaps should be deleted and maybe if the user keeps doing this ban them? It seems IP bans are becoming more necessary than they used to be with all these alts... I never get that. If a person is an idiot on one account most of the time they're not going to improve by moving onto another account but then again I've never had enough energy to make more than one account anyway :)
