Diacritical marks

18 years ago
Does anyone else think the editors (basic and advanced) should include diacritical marks?  You know, acute accents, grave accents, tremas, maybe even tildes for Spanish words.  I would like to have some for my Tolkien quizzes at least--you know for names like "Gloin" (an acute accent over the i), "Guthwine" (an acute accent over the u and a trema over the e, if I'm not mistaken), etc., etc.  Some of the names in my unpublished "Sacrifice" story could use them as well.

these would be nice to have. however, from my recollection, alexp didnt create the options found on the tool bar, i.e. font size, bold, italics, and so forth. he imported those as a complete package from somewhere else. he would have to add his own touch to it to accomplish what you are asking. however, im sure its doable.

Hmm, this is an interesting idea. I have no use for it, unless I start writing in French again, but I see the potential. Still, I'd rather Alex focus on other ideas that have already been presented if this poses any difficulty.

pokemon's names are all from something else Ex: Jynx > Jinx, Scyther > Scythe,  Scizor > Scissor, Ditto > Ditto  Need I do more. Now if names were original then I would have more respect for pokemon

There is a widget in the text editor for all the "funny looking" letters like Å, but I think most users wouldnt' use it. I assume you use Windows, so you can do this:

Start -> Run -> "charmap"

Double click the "funny looking" letters you want to use. Click Copy, then click PAste (or Ctrl-V) in the editor window.

Well, thanks for the ideas.  I agree that there are other, more important improvements to be made on the site, and maybe some day I'll republish my quizzes with the diacritics added using the methods you mentioned above.
