Is Dishonored any good?

I've notice the GOTY edition is out and I remember the game looked sort of interesting, but then I heard everyone was complaining about it being too linear and too short. I assume it's less like Assassin's Creed and more like Deus Ex. (Which is fine if it is since I liked Deus Ex and got bored with the Assassin's Creed series)

Not sure whether to get this or Metro 2030: Last Light since they're both about the same price now.

I didn't like it due to the fact its first person it made my head hurt.

Dishonored is first person? I thought it was third.

Dishonored is like some hybrid between Dues Ex HR and Assassin's Creed and Bioshock from what I've heard, though I haven't played it. My friends have said it is awesome if that means anything =P. I'd personally go for Metro 2033 because I love survival horror and it is supposed to be a hardcore game like Dark Souls, but I haven't played that either . . .

I played the first Metro 2033 on the Ranger Mode (Right from the start because I'm a glutton for punishment that way) and yeah it was pretty hardcore due to the gas mask thing. Towards the end when you have to do a lot of stuff on the surface I thought I was going to have to start over a couple levels back because I didn't really have a lot of gas mask filters and I didn't have bullets to waste either.

Beat it though, just ran through a couple areas and avoided others.

Pretty linear IMO; impacts are not as impactive as I would've liked in comparison to the Sister system in Bioshock 1 and 2.

Assassinations in Dishonored are substantially more complex in terms of stealth and extraction, though I favor run'n'gun styles, so that's not too big of a problem for me.  In Assassin's Creed, you at least have a crowd of people to run into, making any assassination really more of a drive-by sort of killing IMO.

Haven't tried Deus Ex myself, though I heard certain powers you had only worked on very specific moments.

Well you decide exactly what kind of powers you want to develop, you can choose to do it the stealthy way, without killing anyone, or kill everyone. The stealthy way is more fun according to me,

If you fancy kicking ass in the darkness and some well-crafted first-person swordfighting, I'd suggest Dishonored, its only real, hair-tearing, screaming flaw being that it doesn't have a freeplay mode.

As far as Metro, if you're the sort who wondered whether you should buy CoD Black Ops or Fallout New Vegas as soon as they came out, but never got around to buying either, then it's your lucky fucking day, because now you can buy both for the price of one game. That's really all I have to say about them.

Yeah, that about sums it up. I own it on Xbox. Pretty fun... <(=_=)>

Assassin Creed Series is shit compared to it. People complaining about it being short and linear is probably talking about the narrative standpoint. Yes, the story doesn't branch out much but the levels are extremely varied, large, and with multiple solutions that you can explore. Turn off the HUD shit and you have a modern stealth genre gem. The expansions are even better. It's like they tried a more dumbed down version for the main game and then found out that it was rather well received, so they make it even better (i.e less dumbed down as in even bigger levels less hand holding) version as the expansions. So yeah. Get it if you like Deus Ex and hate games like Assassins Creed.

Oh yeah and Bioshock is shit.

I wouldn't think AC is shit, but yes, it's got its own flaws here and there.  Would've liked a stamina and a higher scarcity in supplies to add some artificial difficulty, as well as a slight variation in the skills of an enemy (I'd like it if there was one janissary was actually easier to kill, and the other combatants that watched their teammates die would take note of Altair's/Ezio's/Connor's agility in combat and try something different...)

Bioshock...I really liked the Little Sister system in the first and second installments, as there are some degrees of what endings can be received towards the end of the game.  However, it did fail in the sense of horror.  As an action game during its time, I found it better than most shoot-em-ups when you're trying to crawl walkways to flank enemies, or hacking into bots, or just watching splicers run into walls for the hell of watching splicers run into walls.

So I ended up getting both games. Surprisingly I got bored playing Metro Last Light and didn't even bother finishing it. Liked the first one better.

I enjoyed Dishonored though. Wasn't as linear as I was lead to believe since you can go about your mission in a few different ways. I liked the setting too.

I basically played it high chaos stealth style. Meaning I stayed hidden most of the time, but killed anyone who might be in my way…which pretty much means everyone. soldiers, weepers, thugs, nobles, whores, etc. Hey, I was trying to preserve the Empire!

Not that I care, but I'm wondering what this trend in video games is lately where I'm protecting/saving my "virtual daughter" though. Last of Us, Dishonored, Bioshock Infinite, and even Bioshock 2 all have this and even their names all begin with an "E" (Ellie, Emily, Elizabeth and Eleanor)

Anyway haven't played the Daud expansions yet, but I'm looking forward to them. I'm guessing these are prequels to the original storyline.

I loved Dishonored. It was short but it was incredibly entertaining for what it was worth.
