Kenny Baker (the midget in the R2-D2 costume) died

So yeah, for those who care, Kenny Baker died. I know it's not as big as the other celebrity deaths this year, but still, it'll be sad to see R2-D2 in the next few Star Wars movies and know it's not the same actor in the costume.

That was a costume?... Damn, if only I knew that 8 halloweens ago. I thought the actor was the guy who built/remote controlled it.

R2-D2's actor died.

Alright, now this thread's starting to feel dirty. It was already Chris remembering him for being "The midget in the R2-D2 costume" and saying "I know that's not very big news considering the other people who died", which wasn't quite kosher and I was okay to put up with it, but god dammit dude. Not only is he just the fucking midget in the R2-D2 costume who isn't as important as the other guys, but the thread is hijacked by some other celeb whose death was old news a month ago. I mean, none of us know any of these people personally, and I know you aren't doing this intentionally, but this is kind of Really. Fucking. Disrespectful. not to go all Morgan on you or anything.

And don't even get me started on the new Star Trek and the comparative importance to Sci-Fi Kenny has over Chekov II: The Chekovening.

Well geez... I'm sorry.
Yeah... probably shouldn't have posted that...

Well, I didn't mean to be disrespectful, but come on; how the hell would you know who Kenny Baker is unless you call him the 'midget in the R2-D2 costume'? IMHO, it really isn't as big of a deal as the other celebrity deaths this year. I mean, really; his filmography doesn't go very far past Star Wars. The only other notable movies he was in are Amadeus, The Elephant Man, and Time Bandits, and, even then, it was in very small (pun not intended) roles in the first two (and he was flat-out uncredited in the first one).

EDIT: Okay, that was a bit dickish. Anyway, I should probably request that the mods change the thread title to 'R2-D2's actor died' and maybe edit the OP a bit.

my fee fees are triggered by this thread lol. I hope the tiny dead guy who drove/played R2D2 has or had a good funeral.

He's the guy that got crushed by that pillar in Time Bandits. And he lived to his 70's somehow as a dwarf.

Shared this news with my US History class today. None of the students knew who Kenny Baker was.
