I’ve been poking around the site here after over a year away and my goodness, I only recognize a couple of names on the bottom. Where is Kiel-Farren the man who’s game I spent 3 hours playing, malkalack, who hated me with a passion, SwiftStryker who I used to be in forum games with? I’ve missed the genre of writing as well, sitting for 2 or 3 hours at a time rating the new story games, the occasional dual. Anyways, hello to everyone here new and to anyone old, I doubt I’ll be posting on the forums much as I’d like to play through and rate all the story games as I had some 300 done back in the day, also if any major site changes were missed by me please let me know, and thank you. 

Kiel exiled himself to avoid shame, Malkalack's still around a load, he just published another story like a week or two ago, Swiftstyker's never been important so no one checked to see if he's OK.

I think Swiftstyker posted as recently as December, but I haven't seen him around much other than that.

Malk hates a lot of people with a passion but I'll need to know the name of your original account to confirm these claims in your specific case.

SwiftStryker was around recently but I'm surprised they'd go on anybody's 'most remembered' list. There are lots of old members still coming and going however so you're likely to spot a few others you know, although again no one's going to know who you are if you're using an alt now.

The tale of Bad Mod Kiel is something someone else will have to fill you in on, but anyway rating/reviewing all the games is a worthy pursuit so good luck with that. We just had a big contest that produced some quality stories, a lot are still lacking in reviews so maybe that's a good place to start.

Major changes? JJJ did some stuff with story ratings and rankings and added word counts and some other things which is a pretty big deal for readers. Orders were a failed experiment that can be safely ignored along with the commendation system that came with them for the most part.

Endmaster and Killa and Berka are the currently active admins to direct any future complaints too. You've probably noticed by now that FG was burned to the ground and we have the superior and far less cringe Creative Corner now.

Well forums games got removed, replaced with the Creative Corner (That was less than a year ago, right?)

Kiel did some dumb shit and ran off, even though I thought he was a pretty cool dude, oh well. A bunch more n00bs started popping up and taking the banhammer to the face. They even have their own whiny little discord now.

Also, I think that the majority of people have been here a long time, and there aren't a whole lot of new people popping up.

Oh yeah. That's true, but I don't see many of these people sticking around.

 

I would say that this site has a very particular idea of who they want around, and folks are fairly merciless to those who aren't what they want.  I suppose it's somewhat accurate to say that sometimes the weeding out process is attended to a bit overzealously.

Actually I'm pretty sure if you'll look through the newbie board you'll see this is false despite it seemingly being a popular belief. Most newbies are welcomed to the site, given advice, say they're working on a storygame and then vanish.

But then again some will randomly wander back in months/years later and start to participate. (That's what I did and I'm pretty sure what you did to.) I pay attention to the list of online users so we always have a surprisingly high number of old members coming and going as well as a steady crop of newbies. (Not to mention the people we DON'T want around who hang around for years and years anyway...) There are lots of people regularly active on the site who never post at all for that matter. The forum isn't everything.

I didn't mean to imply that no one sticks around.  It's just often the loudest people are the ones that don't last long, so it seems that people don't hang around that long.

But yes, I did wander off and then come back.  Whatever shenanigans happen on the forums, there is a lot of good quality writing here.

And you do make a good point  that a lot of the people who hang around never say a peep on the forums.  I guess some folks are just more social than others.  Or, maybe some folks are just more focused.  Either way, it takes all kinds.

I think the site is very inclusive of who they like/want around, but they're not actively chasing people out.

What ever happened to Briar_Rose? I was really looking forward to her finishing Price of Freedom.

That sounds like a fair assessment based on both the description and the vitriol that accompanied it.

People rarely stay on this site for more than three years at a time with a few exceptions. 

It's like that shitty teen show Degrassi. A new cast every season.

The Warrior cats<The forum games team<the lounge posters.

This is the best season yet.

I liked the Warrior Cat days more. Very fun.

They make an ointment for that.

MAG Season - Mostly dull mainly because EndMaster hadn’t joined the cast yet. Some of the older people liked it though. Most of the original cast from this era are dead now.

Mafia Season - There was a boring ongoing Mafia storyline, but this was about when EndMaster joined the cast so he was pretty much carrying this season all by himself. It was still worth watching just for him alone. This was also when the show changed its name from MAG to the more recognizable CYS.

BHB Season - This was about when Berka and some others like Aman, Tan, Uglick and Bo joined the cast. This injection of new blood helped liven up the show. Some still feel this was one of the best seasons since while there was adult humor, it was still fun for the whole family to enjoy.

Warrior Cats Season - We don’t talk about this season. Horrible set back after a good previous season.

CoG Lite Season - While maybe not as horrible as the WC season, it was horrible in other ways mainly due to corrupt producers fucking around with the format by attempting to copy a different inferior show and censoring things that wouldn’t even have been censored back during the BHB Season and paradoxically allowing other things that were even worse! Thankfully those involved were fired.

Still, the final episodes of this season were considered some of the best of all time and introduced some cast members that would become staples in the next season.

Villain Season - Possibly due to all the complaints about last season, the show has completely retooled and gone in a different direction. While this seemingly has worked out with better storylines and cast members like Steve and Mizal have taken more center stage, there have been some who have complained about the show becoming too edgy and grimdark.

So far such complaints have been ignored as you can’t argue with success.

Some said a show about nerds typing words on their screens instead of doing anything useful or interesting would never even get off the ground, yet here we are today.

You don't? There was even that whole debate as to whether or not you should be banned because of the way you're inflammatory. I even got docked a couple of times for debating transgenderism and threads were being nuked left and right even when they technically weren't shitposts. It had to be early to mid CoG Lite since I don't remember you being around during the BHB or Warrior Cat days.

Was that when Slashy was whining about me? Because I don't recall those times being that PC, given that I survived, and 3J told me my behavior wasn't going to get me banned. Fucking hell, that was one of my fondest memories of the site.

I don't remember who it was. I thought it was James but it could have been Slashy. Yeah, he was basically saying you should be banned because you hurt his feelings or something. I just remember how threads on 'controversial' topics kept popping up only to be deleted shortly after. And didn't 3J make a post basically telling everyone to get their shit in line? He was really active at the time.

Definitely Slashy, but I don't remember the other stuff, although it probably happened, I just don't remember.

Here's a thread where Kiel seems to have deleted a post (multiple posts?) of yours having fun with Derp, and you cheerfully accepted it because deep down inside you enjoyed having him discipline you.

Threads were getting nuked left and right during that season though and posts deleted constantly. I flat out missed a few really good ones entirely and that's the era we all learned to have the Wayback Machine somewhere quick and easy to access.

If I'm not mistaken, I was trolling by being super hetereophobic, wasn't I? I don't know for sure, though.

CoG-Lite sort of started a little after the infamous "Words (tranny) Thread" and ended shortly after Bad Mod Kiel left.

After the "Words" thread there was an undercurrent of censoring certain things under the idea that it would make the place more "welcoming", though it was only sporadically enforced. There's a couple of other threads nowadays that would have gotten deleted by Seth before they went as long as it did. (The Bantastic Thread comes to mind)

Started getting worse when Kiel became a mod since he started docking points for having certain beliefs, like when you said "Death to America" (Which was a retarded misunderstanding on his part anyway even after you explained what you meant) or when Chris said something about not believing in 500 genders or Briar making some joke.

One of the bigger examples when Bucky was trying to start a thread about the tranny bathroom topic that was going on at the time and wrote a huge post about it, Kiel just deleted the whole thing before anyone could even debate about it.

That was sort of the closest time this place was starting to go "PC" and obviously things don't work like that here.

Short but miserable season, then.

I baisically joined at the start of this season. Except for the hilarity of Kiel's de-modding and a good School-Based contest, the site didn't benefit much. I'd say the writing is, on average, probably better now than any other time of the site. :)

I just remembered. Who was that guy that got banned for posting porn on the site? I can't remember the name for the life of me. It had to be early BHB because he was banned shortly before I came into the scene.

TheStoryReviewer AKA TSR. And yeah he was the major troll around during the BHB years.

Spammed the shit out of the forums for awhile then posted child porn which I thankfully missed during that episode. Got banned obviously but still pops up from time to time.

What wonderful luck I had showing up in this season.  I guess I wandered aimlessly into the studio at just the right time to be given a small supporting role.

Funny how I made a post similar to this one around, what, 3 to 4 months ago. I guess this site follows a trend, hmm? Anyway, it’s nice to be back. Don’t think I recognize you, though.

Depends on who you ask.  Some people prefer more chaos with their breakfast and newspaper.

At least Arrowzworra (or whatever his name is) left. He's the one who made that storygame that was literally just gibberish that was probably made in an hour. 

I don't know who that is and your description of the game doesn't exactly narrow it down. 'Gibberish made in an hour' describes 80% of all storygames ever published here I'm fairly sure.

Must have been madglee that banned him since he would usually take the time to go into people's profiles and rewrite them after banning them.

I was recently banned, as you may have noticed the disappearance of "teh war of gud n evil", "teh ultimate battel" and "monstrer horer". My profile was renamed "[BANNED USER]" and my storygame (Insert random gibberish here) was renamed "I'm a huge tool." Why was I banned? I make stories for humor and amusement, as you can see in the comments of my last surviving storygame. If you'll ban me for humor, why don't you ban the makers of the classics such as "Fairview Highschool Game" and "Finals Week!" And if I am fit to be banned, why publicly shame me by preserving a storygame and renaming it "I'm a huge tool."?
