Friend of mine wanted to do some flash fiction with prompts, around 200 words but no hard limit. I obliged. My prompt was "the best gunfight in the worst casino".
I duck behind the water logged craps table and flip it over before the bullets strike the wood. Check the clip. Eight rounds. Got another clip in my pocket. I wait for the gunfire to stop then hop over the table, firing as I go. Bullets fly and find homes in the chests and faces of the mobsters. The bartender throws a shuriken at me that I deflect with a spin of my pistol. He continues to throw the blades as I run towards him, taking them out by firing at them. I leap into the air and fire a round into his head. I land on a poker table that collapses, scattering roaches everywhere.
With a grunt, I stand and duck out of the way of a katana as it narrowly misses my head. I try to fire a round into the swordsman's chest but find that my gun is empty. I slam the pistol into his face, reload as he's stunned, then shoot him in the head. The guards dealt with, I turn back to the poker dealer that started this whole ordeal. He's cowering and yelps as I shout at him, "Alright, give me my damn money! Cheating bastard..."
"I swear, sir! I wasn't cheating! You just got really unlucky!" He whimpers as I grab his wrist then lower it to the ground, cards falling out of his sleeve. He looks at me and grins sheepishly. I put a round in his face then take my cash.
