Hello and stuff...

Hey, I'm new to the site and Was looking for someone to help me out, or atleast a friendly face to say hi to, so hi...

Hi - Welcome, enjoy your stay.

Hello and stuff...

Why thank you, so is it difficult to create a story here?

Hello and stuff...

This was posted in the wrong area. (>_<)

Oh, and hi.

EDIT: You've been a member since 2012. Wtf?

Hello and stuff...

really? because I was under the impression that we can post anything here, and I dislike being treated like a complete noob.

Edit: Yep, I attempted creating stories before, but they had no merit, so I am starting fresh.

Hello and stuff...

There is a protocol. (;--_--) I think.

I doubt anyone would treat you like a noob. I personally have never seen that. Unless you do something that would make you appear to be a noob, people here are pretty friendly. Except a couple who will remain unnamed but will make you aware of there presence.

Hello and stuff...

ok, so, what is the general age of authors here? if I may ask? I am not sure if I might be to be significantly older or younger than the population.

Hello and stuff...

I don't know, nor do I honestly care. If the story is bad or good I will just outright tell them. You'd probably miss the mark when figuring out ages here with our users. I'm still guessing a few. Some of them are obviously young though, either that or highly incompetent.

Hello and stuff...

ok, so discussing adult/advanced themes is ok, or no? not cybering obviously though haha

Hello and stuff...

By adult, you mean sexual? Yes that's fine. Look at some of the better stories on this site (anything by EndMaster) and there is sex. As long as it is in good taste, and the story isn't pornographic, it is fine.

Hello and stuff...

Well that went in an entire different direction... since you read my profile, you know I am a published author, I am well adapted to horror, and I can become chillingly gruesome in my detail, (I even got one of my stories banned from a site once) so I was thinking more violence, or other mature themes, I don't usually delve into sex.

Hello and stuff...

That's what she...never mind.

If you mean horror then you should just make sure you correctly rate the maturity of a story. That's what it's there for, thus you would be okay. I don't think they'd jump down your throat if you do that AND put a disclaimer.

Hello and stuff...

ok, I can do that, although the story I have started with is more surreal than scary, although There are a few... less than ideal sections.

EDIT: if you have read the posts I am looking for a co-authorship, to see how a story would be best made, any ideas?

Hello and stuff...

That both helped and didn't answer my question

Hello and stuff...

Young, young adults, and adults. Many of the top rated storygames are made by adults (25 - 50 years old); while the average storygames are made by young adults (14 - 24 years old); and although there are rare good games made by this age group, there tends to be a lot of crap from the young (8 - 13 years old). These are very broad groups and are mostly based on majority.

Hello and stuff...

The forum is mainly populated by which group would you say?

Hello and stuff...

The first group is the fewest, following the second, and likely the third. As far as the story publishing goes. When it comes to the more active users in the forums, the third group seems to be the fewest.

Hello and stuff...

ok, who are the big dogs around here?

Hello and stuff...

As far as stories go, EndMaster, JJJ-thebanisher, Briar_Rose, Kiel_Farren, Sindrv.

I'm probably missing a few, well a lot.

Hello and stuff...

People listed [here] are the top of the top. I could go through and look for all the "famous" people around the site and provide links, but that's a lot of work.

Hello and stuff...

I just named a few from the top of my head. :P

Hello and stuff...

ok, thank you guys so much for helping me out, I hope I can impress you guys, how long do these stories usually go?

Hello and stuff...

The length varies. If it is a length of 1/8, it is usually a crappy story. The better stories on this site are 4/8 and above in my opinion. That's not to say a short story can't be good, it just leaves much to be desired. How long are you planning to make it?

EDIT: Also, you should know the Minimum Site Standards for Storygames just in case. Needless to say, don't hesitate to have a couple people test the storygame if you feel you want some extra revision.

Hello and stuff...

I am planning to give it a bit of length, although is it possible to publish a basic story, then add more meat at the story goes?

Hello and stuff...

That's something you'd have to ask 3J. I'm not entirely sure how publishing demos go anymore.

Hello and stuff...

If it's an unfinished game it get's a 3/8 or less rating from me. If it's part of series that's fine, but there better be a link on every page and a paragraph for every dead end explaining why I've failed.

on a totally unrelated note look at my beautiful profile page...*ooh aah so pritty*

Hello and stuff...

Nice and all but it hides the links :P

I have learnt how to do it!

Hello and stuff...

Yes you can, but people tend not to rate demo's or unfinished work very well.

Hello and stuff...

Hmm... that's difficult. The annoying idiots tend to be young and post often - but most of their posts are worthless garbage. The adults post rarely, but they lurk like crazy and see anything and everything - if they deem the subject worthy they'll post. The young adults are probably most often posting on average in a small amount of time. Posts by young adults tend to be worth reading, but I suppose it depends on your personal preference and the topic.

Hello and stuff...

ok, thank you very much,

Hello and stuff...

Your age range is off, Ford. >_>

Hello and stuff...

General age? I would say that the majority of authors are in the 12-14 range. However there is a significant amount of writers in the 18-22 range. And then, we have the "creepy old men" group. @Briar_Rose

Hello and stuff...

Uhh... I'm not a creepy old man... I'm a crazy old cat lady ^_^

Hello and stuff...

No, you have explicitly stated before that you fall into the "crazy old man" territory. I will hold you to that, damn it. :)

Welcome back to the site, enjoy your stay!

This should probably be in Newbie Central but I'm not sure to be honest.

Hello and stuff...

Welcome to CYS. My name is James. If you need help, don't hesitate to pm me.

Hello and stuff...

Welcome to the site ... though I'm confused that your profile says you've been a member almost two years now, so I don't know how you could really be new. I mean, I don't consider myself new anymore, but eh. What do you need help with?

Hello and stuff...

He hasn't been active in those two years, and he is only just starting to write, I assume.

Hello and stuff...

Hi and stuff. Hope you write a good story game! xD
