    How do you get pictures for your story? I mean I know how, but aren't you supposed to give credits to whomever owns the pictures? Are you allowed to put urls?

Thanks

You can only get in trouble if they catch you, at which point you simply take your clothes off and run screaming madly towards the hills.

It's not really an issue here as this is a non-profit site. But if you're really nervous about it, you can always give credit in the description of your story.

Just so you know, "non-profit" has absolutely nothing to do with copyright. If you own a picture, there are very limited uses that I can use it for, mostly for news or education. Writing a story is pretty clearly not within legal limits.

That said, the odds of someone spotting "their" image here and complaining is pretty darn low...

There are stock image sites as well that let you use images for less than a dollar apiece if you want to be really aboveboard and squeaky clean.

@Political

You can also look for artwork licensed CC0 (public domain) or CC-BY (you can do anything with it so long as you give credit to the artist). CC-BY-NC (CC-BY with added stipulation that art not be used in commercial projects) would also be acceptable, since this isn't a commercial project.

This is a good site for concept art, 2-d game assets, etc. If you want to get creative, you can even download a 3-d model, pose it, render it, then use the rendering in your game.

As a side note: If you ever take the pictures from another story on here, I strongly suggest asking the author of the story where they got them first. Some of the people here are artists and draw their own illustrations, and they might be pretty pissed if you used them. Alternatively, people like me might have gotten permission from the artist or commissioned a drawing.

If you're going to use artwork, please ask for the artists permission. Just create a credits page. Placing URLs mid-story just seems a little tacky.
