Hey all, I'm just going to go ahead and make a forum post here even though I'm a rambler and you're probably just all going to think I'm crazy.

I've actually been playing storygames here on and off as a guest for a long time. Like, years. I knew the community seemed really great so I don't know why I didn't make an account sooner, I guess I'm just lazy. 

Anyway, recently I decided I'd really love to add some content to this site, considering how much I love the choose your own adventure style, and how much I enjoy writing. I also feel like I owe something to this site. It's saved me from boredom on many occasions and the least I can do is publish some mediocre writing in an attempt to give back. It's taken me a while to post on here, about a month, and I've been working on and off on my first storygame. I really hope you guys don't think it's lame, because I'm doing my best. Getting used to the format is a bit of work, and I'm sure my pacing is going to be off. It's probably going to be a long while before I actually end up publishing anything because I've got a big story in mind and sometimes it feels like I've bitten off more than I can chew, but I'm chipping away at it slow and steady.

 

I just wanted to post here to say hi, tell you what I was doing here, and maybe fish for advice if anybody has anything relevant to say. So that's it I guess. Hi.

Whatever you end up doing, whether it be writing, participating in the forums, I hope you enjoy yourself.

Also, I look forward to you to seeing you exit your cocoon of n00bhood.

If you're bored and looking for some regular stories to read, there's been a lot posted in the Writing Workshop recently, and I'm sure any of the authors would appreciate feedback.

Thank you all for your responses, I'm sure I'll enjoy this site, and I look forward to interacting with all of its wonderful members. 

Just fyi, you may want to turn sneak peek off on your story, unless you don't mind nosy people in it and creeping around to see what you're writing. (It's off to a great start btw, but you'll want to give it a proper title before publishing.)

Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't even realized everyone could see it. Is there still a way I can let certain people look over my story without turning the sneak preview on again? Eventually I'll want someone to play through it before I publish, because a second set of eyes can always find mistakes the first one was missing. (And thank you, I appreciate the comment.)

 

 

Welcome to the site. We have some cool writing exercises in the writers workshop if you find yourself facing writers block as well as a lot do people willing to heal critique and read through your story when you're ready for it. Best of luck writing.

Welcome to the site. You're not the only one -- I did the same when I first joined. I think I read stories for 6 months or so, before I even really looked into the forums.
