Quick question.

I'm guessing this is the right area.

I'm messing around with the tools right now and I was wondering several things about images for stories.

Is their a size limit on them and is their a limit to how many you can have in your "My pictures" area?

Also is their anyway to center images so that they don't appear on the right side? I was trying to put some pics at the bottom center of the text just before you reach the choices. (And at the top center before any of the text)

Wait, nevermind. I got it. I had to turn off my pop up blocker though to access the image property tools though.

Just need to remember to turn it back on when I'm done!

About your other question, there is a size limit, but there is a way you can avoid this. I'll write it in an article soon as I've answered it many times before. And no, I don't think there is a limit to the amount of pictures you can hold in your My Pictures area.

I personally don't like/need the pop-up thingy for new links. If I'm making a lot of new links, I don't want the page showing up in my face. Then I'll have 20 windows in my face that are all blank. I can manage fine with 1 window at a time that I open up myself. So to me, it's sort of a nuisance.

I get a pop up thing whenever I'm copying and pasting from Word. It always asks me if I want the site to access my clipboard or something. I have to say yes, or else I can't paste it.

The only other problem I was having when I was messing about with it, is that I couldn’t just “auto center” the pics. At least it never seemed to work the way I wanted it to, I usually had to space and move them about manually and then check to see if they appeared how I wanted by viewing it as if I was playing the game. (The preview didn’t seem to give a good indication, and sometimes it would show the text much closer together than it acutally was)

I dunno, if this was a bug, but the text would automatically space whenever I added a new link too making the paragraphs way to far apart from each other, so I’d usually have to go back and correct the text so it appeared correctly. I was getting weird symbol stuff showing up when I used quotation marks in choices.

The best way I found to get something “just right”, is to place the place the links first, then the pic, then the text.

Hmm, maybe Word documents don’t sync up with the site. I’m looking at my above post, and it didn’t appear like that in the box. (Its close together in a part where there should be a space and there are big spaces in two places)

They do not, you are correct.  Do you by any chance run vista?

Quick question.

Nope, still got XP. I'm dreading the day I have to switch over to Vista. Hopefully by the time I do, they will have fixed everything.

Sort of like with every other version of Windows actually.

Quick question.

lol endmaster, i know exactly what you mean, im dreading the switch, but by then, vista will be old news :P and hopefully be running like xp.

Quick question.

You know what's funny? In 50 years, people will be like: "Ha ha! Only 1280x1024 pixels?" and "Wow, this internet is SLOW. 4 seconds!" And Vista will be really cheap and problem-free. Hopefully.

Quick question.

Reminds me of an episode of Futurama when they find the old van from the 1970's and that person is surprised because, "It only goes up to 80,000 miles per hour?".

I think Vista will be fixed by the time the next version of Windows is here.

Quick question.

Guys I run Vista, and I'd just like to tell you that Vista Ultimate is not like the bad hype.  I know you wont believe me on the basis that im soem random asshole you don't know telling you this over a site thats meant to be based on writing... but its true.

Quick question.

Vista is definitely good, it's just there are some bugs, evidently. Now, what exactly are these bugs or whatever?
Anyway, I'm probably going to get a Vista upgrade, but as October said, there'll probably be a new Windows version out before Vista becomes the norm. Still, I'd get it.

Quick question.

Vista ultimate is good, just its too expensive for an operating system. Overpriced. Whereas macosx is $150 and winxp used to be $300 when it was still the newest os.

Quick question.

Well yeah but money aside it kicks ass.  I will be the first to admit that its fucking expensive.

Quick question.

actually im the first to say it was expensive :P

just pulling your leg, i think vista should have been at a replacement cost of xp, meaning if you had xp, you could upgrade for a cheap price. If you bought new, it would be the price of xp...

Quick question.

I noticed that too. If you hit ctr+v instead of right clicking to paste, you won't get that "clip board" question. It's strange...

Quick question.

I don't know if you're talking about XP of Vista, but with XP, ctr+v = paste. I'm pretty sure it's the same with Vista. Is that what you're saying?

...Your point?

Quick question.

That is precisely what I am saying. When you use that little right-click menu to hit paste, you get the pop-up. When you click in the field and hit ctr+v, it pastes it in without any pop-up.

All that stuff happens to me on my home computer, too.  And the not-auto-centering pics, also.  So I don't think it's a bug, I think it's just an issue with some systems.

Oh, I also get the "allow access to clipboard" message.

Quick question.

Well I just didn't know from what donteatpoop was replying to. That's all.

Quick question.

Mmm.  isn't there a post from him somewhere talking about how he doesn't like the forum style here, cause you can't tell who's replying to what?

Quick question.

The way to have a quote option in our forums is just to go back a page, copy the text, paste it into your textbox, then put "quote by whoever."
And if you are in the middle of writing your reply, if you have Windows xp (prolly vista too), hold ctr and then click the 'back' button to open a separate tab* with the previous page showing the entire thread. *Tabs are like other windows, but they can be stored in one window, it's just you can select different tabs. Actually, you might need Firefox to use tabs. Never tried it with Explorer.

That or follow the indent alignment, a-n00b-us

Quick question.

First of all, don't call me a-n00b-us. You just can't; you don't have the proper legal requisites.
Second of all, if you want to call me anything, call me Anubis or a-newbie, although I'm no newbie (OR N00B) anymore.
And last but definitely not least, you're more of a n00b than me, so stuff it. Yeah, touche poophead! lol

Quick question.

Actually, a-n00b-us, I've been on here since ???.  Clearly "???" is meant to reflect the dawning of time. Therefor I have been on here far longer than you.

"Clearly "???" is meant to reflect the dawning of time."

No, if it was beginning of time, it would say Beginning of Time, q.v. alexp or march.

I SAY SO!

Quick question.

Okay, I managed to get the first page EXACTLY how I want, so I at least now I know I can do it. It just takes an extra bit of time. No easy copy/paste job here!

I'm going to motivate myself to get two of my stories on here, it'll take awhile though. They're very long writing wise, and I have pics to go with every room.

Quick question.

Okay found a better way to get around the spacing and constant double checking bit.

Copy/paste the text from Word to Notepad, then copy/paste from notepad to the site. You don't get all weird spacing the problems and it comes out looking like how you typed it. (And it winds up as Ariel as well)

This discovery should certainly help me get stuff done quicker.

Quick question.

Thanks, I look forward to reading them.  Can you compare the editors for me?

Quick question.

You mean the Basic and Advanced editors here? I was just using the basic one for now, I wasn't planning on using the advanced one anytime soon.

But happily I've managed to get the picture centering correctly now. I like how I can put the pics in the middle of text where they might fit better with the descriptions.

Quick question.

I'm sure you've read the Advance Editor Tutorial Article, but once you really understand and get a feel for the Advanced Editor, it's pretty cool. And don't hesitate in experimenting little-by-little. It doesn't really matter if the story is good or not, but if you say that you were just experimenting with the Editor, at least I'll understand.
