So many links and options

I'm starting a new story, and I was wondering how you people remember the order of the many options and pages you have to write.

I'm using excel for now (those cells are useful), but I had to stop and ask myself how stories could be made to be so long without getting all confused and messy.

Is there a special program I should be using? An internet tool to help me with the correct order?

Why don't you make many pages in CYS's editor, then write them in excel and paste them in, in batches. I personally dont use excell, just directly use the editor.

I do not know how many pages will my story last. I just write them when I need them.

This is a story shaped like a tree, if that helps.

And I do not write them in exel, I just put the name of each page under the one where the choices leading to them are.

Whenever you write another page, paste it in the editor. That way you can keep track of your pages.

My problem would be when I have many pages written, it will be a mess even in excel.

If you know a nice tool to download, please tell me. If not, I will have to go along with what I have.

But thanks for adding to the solution. I know you are trying. yes

A mess in excell is not in CYS's editor. Use it.

What can I do if the page list gets too long to remember the order and the options correctly?

I do not want to have any dead ends/ empty pages when I publish.

Aha, when you click the publish butron, it tells abput orphaned or dead end pages. I cant help anymore, anyone else has a answer?

In the Editor itself, it helps to mark unfinished pages in some way.

For example. I generally delete the Text on all new pages, so when you scan down through a bunch of pages, they stand out with only a " ... "

Also, if I have text on a page, but the links off the page are not finished, or I just want it to stand out as one I need to go back to for some reason, I add " >>>>> " to the Title of the Page - then remove the markings when the page is finished.

Titles on each page, that match the same title in GBAT (Game Book Authoring Tool) or Twine (I think).

Really, having something like GBAT really saves a ton of backtracking through the pages for me in the Advanced Editor... >.<
