Quite honestly, I found it dull, stupid, and corny. I found it to be a work of disgusting purple prose, a fanservice to teen girls, and something that just lays it on rediculously thick for English teachers. There was no heart to it, essentially, it was not only a rippoff of Battle Royale, but an utterly insipid love story only slightly above the level of Pulp Fiction. Besides, if someone killed an adorable little kid that I was allied with, I wouldn't have slammed them into a wall hard enough to kill them, I would have fucking smashed their trachea and let them suffocate. Their should be real suffering found in those books, there should be gory detail, there should be trauma, and actual sadness. People shouldn't want to rebel because a generic 6 year old gets shot, they should want to rebel sheerly from the horror of having to watch it, nobody should ever want to volunteer, not even that one camp that they always train their kids for before sending them off to the real thing. People should come back ruined, and with mental scars, just the way Gladiator games have always been, and the way they should stay.
