I'm a total tomboy yet strangely I liked this book. Anyone else here? :p And this isn't a hate page so all you haters can just spread your hatred somewhere else!

I, honestly, didn't quite enjoy Divergent. I'm not hating- don't take it like that. It just didn't appeal to me.

I'm talking about those people that talk about it like it was a axe murderer that killed their family.

Honestly, as far as dystopian societies go, it didn't really present anything original. It felt like a sorry collage of tropes.

Also, goddamn it, movie studios, stop splitting up the final chapter of a trilogy into two films. It's gotten out of control, at this point.

Way out of control. How many more times do I have to wait for the second half of a story before I can actually watch the trilogy. I mean why only show half other than for more money and time length. I would rather watch a four hour movie than watch half of a movie, then wait for the second half.

I liked the book series and how they were written. I would recommend them.

I quite liked the characters of Divergent quite well, but the move quality wasn't as swell as I could have anticipated it to be.

Most I learned out of it was that people were born better and therefore should be able to do whatever they want, while others must be restricted to their best qualities or die if they have no idea.

I also found it part ironic and part cliche that the intelligent ones can't calculate the turn of events if oppressive rule was enacted, as if they didn't realize emotions and happiness was a thing.

Oh, it's like the Vulcans except less interesting...

But I hate that series...

I never read the book, but ... I'm not exactly crazy about the movie. I've been told the book is better, I've been told the book is just as bad, and I've been told it's worse than the movie... and I don't have time to read it, lol.

I'll take your word for it. I can't muster the motivation to look into it any further than I already have. xD

Read the first book, started the second, got horribly bored and stopped halfway through the second. I never got around to forcing myself to finish it for the sake of finishing it (which is what I usually do). I mean, it wasn't terrible, but I don't really want to read about a girl moping around in a safe hideout for ages and ages. 

(It actually kinda reminded me of LOTR, so much walking through the woods. xD I managed to enjoy LOTR though, Divergent not so much.)

The thing is: sequels almost always suck. It takes a very skilled writer to make sequels work and the sequels to be great.

So are you trying to say most authors aren't skilled?

 I'm not saying most authors aren't skilled. I'm saying that authors have different skill levels. It takes a very high level of skill to make sequels  work and for the readers to see it as good.

Can't say I agree, I've read a lot of good books that followed another book. :P But hey, maybe I've just gotten lucky in picking authors who didn't suck...

The movie is much better than the books IMO.
