What game should I get on Steam?

I have a little money, and I want to get a game for my PC. I already have Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas. I'm looking for an RPG in which I can customize my character to a great extent and my actions will have a visible impact. But, really, I'm fairly open-minded. So, any suggestions?

Edit: By "a little money", I mean $20.

Here's a game that's $20.00, but precisely none of those things: Medieval II: Total War, my latest timesink. It's like chainmail, except it doesn't take 10 minutes for every turn and it isn't ungodly expensive.

I waited for the thanksgiving sale with 20 dollars and like you got skyrim legendary and fallout NV complete, I would wait for the christmas sale to snag any good deals, like penguin said total war is good and goes dirt cheap during big sales.

Game I would reccomend is a early acces in which case you build your own guy with dozens of sliders, you can end up building a squad and managing all of em, much more like base building and capturing slaves. game is called Kenshi.

I bought Kenshi. It could be better, but it is in alpha, so I'll be patient. But, damn if there ain't some crazy-ass clipping. My character walked all the way from one city to another, buried halfway in sand.

Yea development is slower than a turtle, stuff they said would be in 5 months ago still hasn't shown up like the new map, but I can wait some more, ya know why.

It's a refurbished HP elitebook with 8 GB of RAM and 298 GB of Hard Drive space (271 free). I5 processor. Nvidia Quadro GPU.

... Mine only had 3.4 GB of RAM, and 127 GB of Hard drive space total....and comes with Windows Vista as the newest and latest thing.

You make me feel so outdated. XD

I just recently got this computer from someone with whom my dad does business.

Edit:Yeah, I'm pretty sure that is a dinosaur. Not much else it could me, besides an extremely malformed chicken.

Toucan with arms.

Well, they could be clipped, twisted wings, rather than arms.

Edit: It could also be a poorly adjusted bowtie.

I know the bare minimum about computer hardware, and the laptop in question was certainly a good deal, even if it isn't top-of-the-line.

ARMA 2! :D Well, I advise only getting that if you're a military nut like I am. Surprisingly, it's not too hard to run. But it's not an RPG...

I'd wait for a big steam sale and buy what you want then.

Arma 2 goes down to 2.00$  during sales xD they won't budge arma 3 though, the bastards lol.

Because a charmingly written homage with a prominent game mechanic is never worth your money. Portal was never fun. Not for one second.

I never understood how portal was fun. But I acknowledge that I am in a very small minority.

Never got into Portal either.

I'd suggest Wasteland 2, but it seems to be a bit more than 20 dollars currently, so I'll just suggest getting the entire Geneforge Saga.

Portal's entertainment value comes mostly from yelling at each other in Multiplayer and Valve's sense of humor. However, I have played Grindea, and I have to say it's also fun in the gameplay department. It's a very well-made, free-flowing zelda clone with a diverse set of skills, strats, and builds. From what I've seen, there isn't really that much grinding, or I just haven't noticed it either because it's fun because the rest of the game holds itself that well.

During the Black Friday sale, I bought myself Dragon Age: Origins for $14 or so. Apparently, it's an amazing RPG and has some nice features to it. Doesn't require a high end computer, and just about fits most of your requirements. Though the controls are kind of awkward, I'm sure it'll be quite easy once you get the hang of it. Voice acting is solid so far, and even though I've only played 8 hours or so, it's been a fun ride so far.

But it's ugly as fuck.

Is it "ugly as fuck" in regard to graphics or in regard to content (i.e., gritty)?

What game should I get on Steam?

Graphics. It's more of a joke though. I'm the spoiled guy who bought the entire Witcher Series as they came out. Dragon Age actually looks alright on the higher settings and the environment and atmosphere itself is very beautiful.

Dragons age is on my wishlist, The newer versions I hear were the shit, but i dont know why steam hasnt put them on the store page.

It's probably because DA is published by EA. It's probably sitting somewhere on the dusty shelves of EA's own digital software store Origin.

An awesome game I just completed is Borderlands 2. It has RPG elements, but not really customization other than skin changes and head changing. But in all, a 10/10 game within the Shoot and Loot elements the game has. An amazing story, as well. GET IT.

I don't know if I'd consider it a game - and you can't customize the characters - but I recently bought Telltale Games: Game of Thrones and have been thoroughly pleased. It's sort of like an interactive movie, in my opinion. And it did a great job making me care about characters.

Both of those look awesome, but I don't have any money to spare right now and probably won't for a while. During the after Christmas sale, in an attempt to disassociate myself from reality enough to dull the emotional pains of learning that I am nothing to my family but a resource, I bought:

-Mount and Blade: Warband

-Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword

-The Witcher

-Mass Effect

-Mass Effect 2

-Fallout 3

-Morrowind

-KOTOR

-KOTOR 2

-Jedi Academy

-Hatoful Boyfriend

-LeadWerks (standard version; not a game, but a pretty neat-ass engine)

I thought Skyrim was off for super cheap, wasn't it?  It runs pretty nicely on lower-end systems.

What game should I get on Steam?

Duuuuuuude, KOTOR is fucking dope. Mass Effect 2 is pretty good, too. You might not enjoy Fallout 3 if you prefer questing, as it only has about 56 or so quests but a fuckload of locations. Also, I advise you download the Fallout Wanderer's Edition mod for Fallout 3, it adds so much to an already amazing game, but it also makes it hard af.
