Seems like there dropping subs fast because of copyright, Im betting they'll only drop to around 13 million subs. No where under.

I'm willing to bet that a sizeable number of those subs don't care much about the channel anyway, let alone the drama. They don't exactly get 14 mill+ views on every video.

They've lost a few thousand. I don't see it seriously hurting them long term. They'll keep on going.

Everyone's pretty shocked but the whole scandal will probably go away pretty quick. It's only because it's (I think?) the first time a youtube channel has done this. It's perfectly normal in a lot of other mediums. That being said, it might not translate as well to youtube which is a medium supposed to be accessible to everyone and has a lot of freedom in its entertainment.

What? Is that controversey? I couldn't hear it over the sound of the Fine Bros not mattering since 1985. In fact, aside from the time when I was very young and watching Smosh videos with autoplay turned on, I've never watched one of their videos. Everything I know of them was forced on me by youtube throwing viral, vaguely related shit at me...

Which kinda makes me think they're just doing stirring the pot to maintain an illusion of relevance now that they've run out of new, above-mediocre ideas to use in order to mooch views of of things that other people made.

Did you see their second video where they went into full damage control? Their body language alone in that is condescending as fuck. Wouldn't be surprised if this is the beginning of the end for them.

Yeah you could see the " the we fucked up" faces. I find it hilarious that they didnt mention their attack on ellen when they brought up the takedown point.

What they did sets a dangerous example for youtube, we need to take steps to make sure this blatant marketing ploy does NOT happen again! ... By copyrighting water. ... I need to go to bed...

It's just business. It's not like it will affect the viewer in any way. It's not like you'll have to start paying to watch Youtube videos or something... I thought the whole 'sellout' meme ended long ago.

Reminds me of when the infamously litigious Games Workshop said they had a copyright on the term Space Marine and tried to sue a woman who wrote a scifi book with the phrase in it.

Seems like one of major dumb moves the Fine Brothers made in all this was attacking Ellen considering all the money, connections and influence she has.
