A Digression about the X-Men

Also, do you really want the defining point in your life to be the years you fruitlessly spent trying to usurp a bunch of 40 year old guys moderating a hobby writing site? Do you even realize that our entire active administrative team right now comprises a barista, a Sunday school teacher, and a guy in a wheelchair? Just a little food for thought.

"Do you even realize that our entire active administrative team right now comprises a barista, a Sunday school teacher, and a guy in a wheelchair?"

For some strange reason I now picture them all as superheroes.

A Digression about the X-Men

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who imagined them that way.

A Digression about the X-Men

Berka = Nightcrawler

Fleshnblood = Professor X

Seth = I don't know...so we'll just go with Cyclops. He kinda has the "worked at a bookstore once" vibe.

A Digression about the X-Men

I guess Madglee is Wolverine.

A Digression about the X-Men

Or Ajax, since he's the closest thing to a Nurse Ratched parallel you can find in Marvel.

A Digression about the X-Men

By the way, I love all you guys; please don't hurt me.

A Digression about the X-Men

Cyclops??!!!!

Wtf man. Scott's like, the most boring mutant ever.

A Digression about the X-Men

Seth, did you know this is Ryder? I think Berka edited his message lol.

A Digression about the X-Men

Because mods never communicate with each other and most certainly don't have their own forum...

A Digression about the X-Men

No. Jubilee is the most boring mutant ever. Her power is free sparklers.

A Digression about the X-Men

That's not boring, that's just a stupid power.

Scott has zero personality.

Are you going by what they look like? Why's Berka nightcrawler? Religion?

Scott is also kind of a dick. And not in the heroic, cool and forgivable kind of way.

A Digression about the X-Men

And didn't he make out with Emma on jean's grave?

A Digression about the X-Men

Who did what now?

A Digression about the X-Men

Scott Summers made out with a chick on his dead girlfriend's grave.

A Digression about the X-Men

Wow. But who is Scott?

A Digression about the X-Men

This is Scott.

A Digression about the X-Men

Oh.....that one. Thought you meant someone on this site lol.

A Digression about the X-Men

Edit: Sorry. The dickishness to humor ratio was a little too high. Spiderman also fits, I guess. You've got the snark.

A Digression about the X-Men

Wait what?  what dickishness? XD

You can't go spiderman either, you have to stick with xmen.

A Digression about the X-Men

I posted a long "take you" post, all in good humor, but decided that it might be hurtful or inflammatory than funny.

Well, why'd you think I stuck you with Cyclops? I was trying to avoid crossing pantheons.

A Digression about the X-Men

Seth is totally shadowcat

A Digression about the X-Men

 . . . why? XD

A Digression about the X-Men

'Cause you sessy.

A Digression about the X-Men

Cause shes the bestest. (Also you're the most regular mod on the site, which kinda the point of shadowcat. Shes the only one of the xmen thats actually a teen (and not rogue))

A Digression about the X-Men

. . . what?  I'm shadowcat cause she's the only one that's actually a teen?  XD

I'm missing some essential step of logic here. . .

Rogue's not supposed to be a teen, anyway.  She's supposed to be with Gambit.

A wonderful piece of advice I received...

Yeah I always thought the rogue/gambit thing was weird, ha ha.

Basically, I'm trying to say that Shadowcat is the most relatable xman, like youre the most relatable mod, ha ha

A Digression about the X-Men

If I have to be a Summers, can I at least be Nathan? XD

A Digression about the X-Men

How about Gambit? You're not macho enough to be a Summers.

A Digression about the X-Men

F*** yeah!!!

Cause I totally *wanted* to be Gambit, but you know, he's actually cool, so you can't just decide for yourself. . .

. . . wait.  Was that supposed to be an insult?  Not being macho enough to be a Summers?

After organizing all of those digression threads into neat threads of their own, I can only picture you as Danny Tanner, meticulously cleaning and putting things in their proper place. Order and cleanliness are your superpowers.

A Digression about the X-Men

hahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahah

oh hell no

A Digression about the X-Men

More an insult directed towards Cyclops and Cable:) I just never could get behind their characters very much, too moody and melodramatic. Cable is significantly better than Cyclops though since he had more to be moody and melodramatic about (but that's just my opinion).

A Digression about the X-Men

. . . okay first of all I'm all about moody & melodramatic. XD

secondly, isn't macho supposed to be like, the opposite of emotional?

A Digression about the X-Men

You’re going to need a hell of a lot more pockets and pouches to be Cable.

A Digression about the X-Men

And a new arm

A Digression about the X-Men

Well, when I think macho my mind immediately goes to the male protagonists in Spanish soap operas. They are simultaneously stoic due to the lack of expressed emotion and emotional due to their martyrdom and the way they make a big deal out of everything. Sure they aren't weeping, but they are still far from emotionless. That's what I meant by macho. Looking back though, Cable's not so bad, I just haven't had as much exposure to him.

You may be confusing the terms "Macho" with something else. "Byronic" comes to mind, but I'm not sure the X-Men have enough dinner parties and love affairs to go full Byron, or if I'm even using the term correctly. "Macho" is the guy who beats up all the ne'er do wells because it's the right thing to do and, by dammit, he's the only one who will. "Byronic" is the guy who beats up all the ne'er do wells to compensate for his lack of parents and the feeling of personal obligation over painful plot points and complicated feelings. Or I might be using "Macho" wrong...

According to webster, macho = Aggressively proud of one's masculinity.

Byronic= "a man proud, moody, cynical, with defiance on his brow, and misery in his heart, a scorner of his kind, implacable in revenge, yet capable of deep and strong affection" or "an antihero of the highest order. He (or she) is typically rebellious, arrogant, anti-social or in exile, and darkly, enticingly romantic."

Which to me are kind of different personalities.

A Digression about the X-Men

Berka is nightcrawler because he pops in and out of a magical alternate dimension all the time. Namely, the "Who's Online" page.

A Digression about the X-Men

. . . that totally makes sense XD

A Digression about the X-Men

Whos the sunday school teacher??

A Digression about the X-Men

I was referring to Berka (facetiously), because he strikes me as the closest thing to a conservative Christian on CYS.

A Digression about the X-Men

Ah okay, ha ha
