“This is an amazing story” the talented author told his audience. “You might not like bits of it but please don’t say anything bad.” He then told a hilarious joke which is too long to be set down here but take my word for it, it was great.

If you haven't read The Land of Bad Writing yet, (maybe because it got buried under a flood of mediocre troll games?) I suggest giving it a look. 

I recommend it as well. Another excellent story by Will11.

I read it when first published and PM'd the author suggesting he write an article.

It really is enjoyable. I wish some people would take advice and that they would read this, instead of making all bad ratings as some sort of discrimination or personal attack.

It was an amazing game. If nothing else could get some of the newbies to shut up, accept that they are not the God of Writing, and actually take some goddamn advice, perhaps this might.

I'm glad you posted this Seth. Will11 sure does deserve some spotlight with his consistently quality storygames he's published to the site.

Maybe I should wander onto these Forums more often… You guys are being very nice but when I wrote the Land of Bad Writing I wasn’t sure if people would get that it was satirical or if they’d just think it was the deranged scrawling of a dribbling man-child  Some people really don’t like it because they think I am making fun of their story games but really some things I’ve read prompted me to make a list of 20 things to avoid in writing and giving the most extreme examples of each that I could think of.

At the risk of sounding preachy () I think the worst way to write a story game is quickly. The longer you spend on anything the better it will be and even those who aren’t very good at some things (my big problem can be imagination as I have all the creativity of a calculator ) can improve on them with enough time. Most bad story games are written in a few hours and it shows, there are very few story games 6-8 in length with a player rating of 1 or 2 and equally you’ll rarely find a 1-2 in length with a rating above 4... there are exceptions though
